main starter relay on 92 accord
Hi, my dad has a 92 honda accord LX. Where is the main starter relay located? I know where it is in my civic be i dont think its in the same spot. Also, did honda use the same relay in the EG civics as they did in the accord?
do you know for sure it is the starter relay. I will look in my honda service manual in the morning for you. I've had the fuel pump relay go out and that one is located under the steer column.

There's a 'main relay' which is under the dashboard, kinda above the hood-release lever. That switches power for the ECU, injectors, & fuel pump.
There's a starter relay, it's attached to the starter. It's the smaller cylinder alongside the motor.
Better yet, what problem is his car having?

Just saying "doesn't start" isn't very clear...
If the starter cranks the engine but it won't fire up, then your starter relay is OK. In that case it could be the main relay under the drivers left dashboard.
If the starter doesn't even crank the engine, then it could be the starter relay.

I have a 96 with the same problem. Trying to find a DIY fix to correct it, instead of shelling out the $300-$400 in labor.
Starter issue with a 96 Accord LX Manual Transmission 4 cylinder
Whenver key is turned over, audible clicking noise is heard, do it repeatedly, and the engine will start as normal. Sometimes it will start without any problem, other times it takes time for it to finally start. My question comes down to - what would cause this - the starter or the starter relay - does even the manual transmission HAVE a starter relay? I called three discount parts stores today, and was told they don't carry it.
Any links, descriptions for removal (haynes manual just says unbolt) locations, etc. etc. would be great! THANKS!

Excellent. The thing is, I just haven't ever really messed with starters. I've done alot of other items on my car including full brake jobs, electrical troubleshooting, and interior items. The thing is, haynes really has nothing on this, and I'm honestly not even 100 on the location of the starter. So any diagrams, pictures or tools needed would be great. Thanks

btw - Does the manual even HAVE a starter relay??????????

Top/front of the transmission. The starter is bolted to the bellhousing, into that opening where the #1 label is.
The starter solenoid is kinda like part of the starter. It's the smaller can alongside the starter motor.
