Go ahead and remove your I.A.C. (Idle Air Control valve) and clean it, that way if you have to adjust base idle speeds you are starting fresh.
I checked the throttle cable cuz i thought maybe i adjusted it wrong when i put it back on, I tried a new idle air off another working engine, and i tried using a stethascope (like my haynes manual says) but i cant hear any leaks around the intake. what else could it be?
thanks in advance

1. for throttle cable, did you take it all the way off? cause it looks loose, but then when it runs that little valve backs it off. try taking the cable all the way off.
2. the best way i've found of finding a vaccuum leak is to get some starting fluid, and spray it near where the vaccuum leak could be. when it lands on the leak, itll get pulled in, and the engine will rev up.
good luck.
