BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW-2: Any good?
I am desperatly looking for a good tire in 225/45/16 size. I have not found anyone to carry S02's. Upon searching I came across these tires. I remember seeing them a at SEMA, but I don't remember if these tires are really that good or not.

Here is what tire rack says:
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">The BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW-2 (KDW for Key feature: Dry and Wet traction, the “2” is our addition and identifies that this is the second generation g-Force T/A KDW) is the Ultra High Performance Summer tire that was developed to provide a blend of a dramatic-looking, ultra high performance tread design with superior dry and wet road performance. The BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW-2 is available in sizes for drivers of the world's hottest sports cars, coupes, sedans and light trucks.
The g-Force T/A KDW-2 features large tread blocks to enhance dry road stability, handling and wear under high torque loads, while rounded shoulder profiles help provide feedback for the driver by communicating the tire's progressive and predictable characteristics as they reach their limits of adhesion. A silica-reinforced tread compound with wide circumferential and lateral grooves form a directional tread design to speed water evacuation, improve wet traction and reduce the risk of hydroplaning. This basic tread design technology is shared with the g-Force T/A radial racing rain tires used in the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Trans Am Series. Internally, the twin steel belts are reinforced by BFGoodrich's ETEC (Equal TEnsion Containment) System which uses spirally wound nylon strips to provide excellent strength, consistent footprint pressure and maximum contact area under Y-speed rated conditions while it reduces weight and helps provide more uniform ride quality. The g-Force T/A KDW-2 tires feature g-Control sidewall inserts to resist deflection and generate cornering force while rim protector ribs help protect alloy wheels from curb damage.
The g-Force T/A KDW-2 tires feature subtle black letter styling and will initially be available in selected sizes. Sizes will expand throughout the year to include 60-, 55-, 50-, 45-, 40-, and 35-series, V- and Z-speed rated sizes for 17" to 24" wheel diameters.</TD></TR></TABLE>

If you have $$$, they are excellent tires. On par with Pilot Sport & S-02, etc.
If you're only gonna use the tires for dry weather, look at g-Force KD. (225/50/16).

If I don't have rubbing issues, I have tons of options in 225/50/16 size tires. However, I'm trying to stick with 225/40/16 or 225/45/16.
Do you know of anyplace that has S02's in stock?

Alot of the S02 sizes have been discontinued as of nearly 2 years ago. The remaining sizes are the sizes that fit Porsche, Honda S2000 and a select few Mercedes Benz.
Back on subject, the KDW2 are generally louder. The blocks are big, the channels are wide as well. This creates a great combinatio of dry and wet traction. However, because of the design, I have seen plenty of cases where the tire starts to feather, which eventually create a loud "droan" sound when you drive.

Your right they only have tires, from what I have found, to fit only those cars that had them OEM.
How much of a downgrade is it from S02 to S03.

I would aviod those tires. They are loud as previsously described and no there performance is not on par with a SO3 or PS2 . Sidewall stifness is about the same but the SO3 and PS2 more grip.

16" tire selection sucks. 225/45R16 is already pretty damn tall. 225/40 is better. You might want to consider those or 205/45's.
Google Hankook Z212, lots of people are looking forward to these for street tire classes.

Hey Bukkake king
I really want to run 225's, not for any reason specifically, but those are my last resort. I have seen how those work really well and I have considered them.

Yeah 16" tire selection is the pits. If anything else fails I may try and import JDM tires.

Ha. Nope! I'm just excited about getting mine. My old Ziex ZE502 (summer) tires are on their last legs.

Nope, not their R compounds. Try http://www.discounttiredirect.com -- These tires are new and supplies may be a bit limited right now, not sure which sizes they will have in stock.

are you talking about these:

Those are discontinued I believe. If you look on the Advan site, the new AD07s are supposed to outperform them in the dry and wet.
Shame they don't have the old Advan TNR045s either...I would've like to have tried them

what, the S02?
Once I wore the original S02's off my car, I went with the S03's.
S02 - Dry traction was awesome, but in the wet they seemed to lack.
S03 - Dry traction was nice, but didn't hold up like the S02. Wet traction was great... I didn't have to be so cautious in the wet on the S03. Seemed like an all around good tire.
As of now, Im on BF Goodrich Gforce T/A KD, and dry traction is phenominal. IIRC, this tire is nearly an R-compound.
I cannot comment on wet conditions with this tire, they have yet to see the rain.
I only got 9k out of the OEM S02, and 8k out of the S03.

So how difficult is it to get tires like this into the states? anyone know of comapnies that import tires?

Iggy, I don't think you'll have much luck finding the TNR045s unless you have a Yahoo JPN Auction account. Even then, right now there are only a couple of sets available in 245/45-17...the TNR045 has been discontinued for a couple of years already. Damn shame if you ask me.

You could also try Ben @ AJ Racing if you want to import something like the Bridgestone RE55 or the RE-01R. Dunno about pricing but he told me he COULD get them...
PS - didn't mean to hijack your thread with those TNR045 pics
