how much to change license plates?

Default how much to change license plates?

friend of mines is in boston for a vacation and might buy a 01 civic lx coupe for a good deal. if he does, hes going to drive back to washington state. how much does it cost to change license plates and other fees that you normaly dont pay if you buy a car thats in your state? thanks a lot. oh yea the 01 coupe is 4,500 bucks, high mileage.

It varies state by state.

Cali, you have to pay taxes on the cost or value of the vehicle. Which ever is HIGHER.

I Live in SC and I bought my Hatch in NC. When I got home I just went and paid the property tax and then went to the dmv and paid the sales tax, and the normal fee to change the title into my name and they isued me a SC title. It was the same as if I bought it here in SC. Hope that helps out a little.

yea.. yes still thinking about it.. its like a 5 day drive + gas and theres some rust ont he car since its fromt he east coast. but its about 2,000 cheaper.

you will have to check through the DMV, some states charge by the gross weight/base value, others by emissions, etc.
