Default Cat Question

I was just wondering if it would be safe to hallow out my Cat?? The only thing im worried about doing this is that if its going to get stuck in my Magnaflow XL muffler. My cat is bolted on from the down pipe and than welded onto the exhuast pipe,so i can't really take off my cat. Would it be wise to knock it out?? Would anything be different in my car or would it just be louder?

It will probably all go into the exhaust system if you don't take the exhaust off of the car and empty it out upside down. Plus hollowing the cat just makes the car louder and may improve performance a little bit. Plus it also pollutes the environment IMO get a high flow catalytic converter.

I think the magnaflow is a straight through design so it probably wouldn't harm the muffler. I would check magnaflows' website to be sure.

High flow cats do not usually pass emissions testing... I just use a test pipe that is the same diameter as my exhaust (2.25 inch) and put my cat on for testing... the pipe makes such a difference in power compared to the stock DX cat.

Funny you should mention that. I have passed my b16a powered 4dr for the past three years with a random-tech high flow cat...
