I've heard of them exploding, or breaking apart pretty badly, and completely destroying your tranny, plus, I've also heard that they reall don't work too well either.

It depends on how much power you're putting out. My ITR LSD literally grenaded in my tranny and killed everything inside it. I heard it handling about 300hp fine WITHOUT heavy loading and unloading.

If you're making just okay power, the ITR LSD is fine. Cheap and good quality. Anything more serious, and I'd suggest a Quaiffe. Lifetime warranty. I heard about those OBX ones that people are saying could be rebadged Quaiffe's for half the price. Plus they have a lifetime warranty as well. Don't know though.

The Phantom grip isn't a true replacement LSD. it installs inside your factory differential, hence it's cheap price.

For an everyday user, I would say it's safe to use an OEM ITR helical LSD.

I've got just over 320whp right now and I really dont want to bust up my tranny, so i dont think im going to go with the itr lsd. I've always thought obx was a shitty brand, but you say their lsds could be compared to quaife's. I really want to get something worth my money and that wont wreck my tranny if i push out more power. Any other opinions/suggestions on an lsd that can handle some raw power?
Thanks for your help bro?

Just over 320whp might be cutting it close. I wouldn't risk it. I haven't been keeping up with the whole car tuning trend after my car got stolen. Last I heard was OBX's LSD looked/felt exactly like the Quaiffe one. Except it was half the price. I guess you could do some more research on it to find out more. I know there are a few threads on here about it as well.

my car has phantom grip, as in you might think it has grip, but you are wrong. maybe its the rock hard 70k mile warranty sears tires. it also has a torque leak, do you think they are related?
