Default problem with Tie Rod

ok, first of all.. i own a 97 hatch. i posted it in this section just because the ITR section is filled with smarter people.

anyways, to the point.. i recently did a 5 lug... everything went fine for the past couple months. last week WHILE DRIVING..my cotter pin and castle nut on my tie rod came off and i lost control of steering. anyways, i just put on a new castle nut and new cotter pin to fix the tie-rod back up.

but now when i'm driving.. it wobbles and feels like how it did right before my tie rod came off the first time. yet i check my cotter pin and castle nut and its still in there. i'm guessing the alignment got thrown off when the tie rod got thrown off the first time.

what do you guys think? thanks in advance

wow. that nut must have been really loose. need to impact that sucker

anyway, what exactly happened when the tie rod came off the first time?
please be as descriptive as possible.

I would check for play somewhere else,
maybe in ball joint in the inner part of tie rod,
or check for play in your hub bearings (My friend w/ 93 EG had a loose hub bearing)

i was driving in a neighborhood. i reach a stop sign, then start to drive again, and bam my left wheel is pointing one way.. and my right wheel is pointing the correct way. in other words my left tie-rod came out. my 010's chunked a bit.

then AFTER i put the castle nut and cotter pin on.. i started driving.. felt like my left tire was wobbling, i feel the castle nut and cotter pin, and its on just fine. the inner side of my tire was chunking...

couple of my friends said the alignment may have been thrown off when the tie-rod came off.

make sure you impact the nut onto the tierod to make sure its tight.
check your wheel bearings, one or both may be damaged.
