Finally finished mini me swap A6/Z6 head but ran into some problems.
Here's the info on the engine I built:
1988 Honda CRX DX (MPFI converted)
D16Z6 Head
D16A6 Block
D16Y8 Intake Manifold
I'm going to tell you straight up. I am not sure I connected up the vacuum hoses the right way, but I did use this link to connect it up on my setup. (https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=575002).
However, I am throwing no codes what so ever.
Here are my baby's symptoms:
--> My idle jumps straight up to 3k rpm and stays at 4k rpm.
--> The idle screw is no help.
--> I have adjusted the distributor timing, but that has no effect.
--> There is white smoke coming out of the tail pipe. (Anti freeze maybe?)
- I was thinking I might have connected up the wrong coolant lines
--> There happens to be a left over (2 prong plug [white] - similar to the IACV plug)
I have no clue where it came from.
I have converted from OBD-0 to OBD-1 using Blown90hatch's conversion harness and a unchipped P28 ECU. The engine revs up fine, but I can't figure out the problems. If you can help in any way, please feel free to reply.
I will continue searching until the problem gets solved.
Thanks in Advance,
Jon

check the throttle stop screw under the throttle body. a buddy and i once confused that for the idle screw and it made my car jump up to about 4k rpms and just chill there. If thats nut adjusted correctly it might be the problem. something easy to check but other than that i really dont know.
Also check to see if your vac lines are all hooked up and there are no hanging lines or non connected ports open. Maybe the white smoke is just condensation? How long did you run it?
Well I referred up to the link at the top that I posted. It might be condensation, there was alot of oil i dumped into the cylinders to keep it from rusting. Also, my oil isn't creamy (water mixed with oil).
Anyone happen to have a vacuum diagram for the D16Y8 (non air injected) manifold that is compatible with my CRX DX chassis?
*BUMP* for more help

D16y8 manifold swap
No luck still runs high. Also, for the dashpot vacuum line, I removed the oBD2 emission sensor that sits on the fuel rail and connected it straigth to the charcoal canister.
Is this correct?

I found these diagrams. It looks like I had the dashpot connected wrong. Odd though, I don't have the dashpot on my IM. Im guessing I can plug it up?

Since I had the dash setup wrong and im missing some nozzles on my throttle body for the charcoal canister. Can they be plugged up?
I purchased a 98 D16Y8 Intake Manifold. Perhaps the person selling to me placed a diff throttle body on it?
Thanks guys,
Jon

bump for this guy....
does the y8 manifold have a bracket for the Throttle Cable where you can adjust it like the A6?.. i forget, haven't had my y8 IM for a while now. If thats the case, just for ***** and giggles, you can check if the throttle is open a bit more because it is too tight.

i actually have the throttle set correctly. Its fully closed, when pressed on it opens up. I flipped my throttle body lever upside down so it would work. Imma go see if there are any vacuum leaks (plug up the intake with my hand)

did you swap the tps wires around when you switched to MPFI? cause that will bring the idle way up too. the outer two wires are the ones you need to switch around.
Spray carb cleaner on all the intake crap to check for vaccum leaks. Also when you are playing around with the idle adj. screw, did you remember to unplug the EACV? Cause otherwise it is just going to adjust the idle from the computer.

Ahh find out the problem. The PCV connection coming off the D16Y8 Manifold had too much pressure, I put the Check valve between the PVC case and the vacuum line coming off the intake manifold and it solved everything.
Thanks alot,
Jon
