fan not coming on on my ek, where is the sensor?
i live in cali and its starting to get warmer right now and when i was in the drive-thru the other day my car heated all the way up almost to the H and it has never been half way before...anyways i noticed that my fan wasnt coming on also so im guessing that there is some sensor that must be out...does anyone no where the sensor is or can help me and make sure that this is the reason?

Yep, you are. What engine is in the car having trouble? What year is the car also? The newer ones are located on the thermostat housing. Older ones like the B18A's are on the back of the block to the left of the oil filter.

i was in a couple of little fender benders at the start of winter and the fan never really had to come on and i just noticed it a week ago or so...so it could be that as well...is there any way to check if its the thermostat or the fan? the car only has 60k on it.

The thermostat doesn't turn the fan on to begin with. You can test the switch if you have a helm manual. The fan, you simply remove the connector and install two wires from the connector to the battery. If the fan works, you ruled it out.

to check the fan, after you started the car, removed the "plug" on the thermostat housing, with a paper clip or wire, ground the 2 pins, if the fan turns on, then most probably you need to replace the thermostat.
thanks for all the help guys problem solved...was the fan relay, also went ahead and changed the coolant while i was at it...fan comes on now and works like a champ...thanks again for the input...and you can close thread now.
