Default can't gap my spark plugs to .030

I recently purchased NGK BKR7E for my car. I need them gapped at .030 but when I checked them, they were pre-gapped at .032-.034. Is there anyway I can make them go down to .030?

Tap them against something...?

have you never gapped plugs before? You can set the gap at anything you want...

Did you think there was a .030 button on them somewhere...?

Either way you're not going to be able to tell the difference between .032 and .030

you would notice the duration differenaces on a scope or something but thats about it, a differance that small you will not feel, and i highly doubt it will make much of a differance as long as they are all the smale

i think i know what u mean by hitting it against something. just hit it until the little hook goes down, right? doesn't matter if it's a little crooked as long as it makes contact with the metal ****?

i always just tapped mine down like he did. I wouldn't bother gapping it down any smaller than .032 unless you are missing or something.

jokes aside, can you REALLY make the gap smaller and safely? can u take pliers and move the floating metal piece and move the whole cylinder with the threads on it to make the gap smaller? or can you just push it on the floor till you get the .030 that we want.

what are normal bkr7e's normally gapped to?

holy dshit man, go get teh spark plug gapping tool.

IKf the plug is gapped LARGER than what you want (came .35 and you want .28) you put the .28 inbetween the electrode and metal (it should be loose, about .07 off, lol) and tap the plug against something so that the metal bends down and then the gap will now be .28

IF the plug is smaller than what you want, mebbe you dropped it or something... there should be a hole on the gapping tool, use it likie a bottle opener and increace the gap beyond that of what you want (dont measure this part, jsut open it up some) then smush it down like you do if the gap is smaller than what you want. This **** isn't computer science.

Your tool should look like a coin, except along the outside is a ramp. It starts at the thickness of the coin and gets thinner to accomodate the different gaps.

Wow, just plain wow. I was trying to find a "how-to" site on how to gap your spark plugs but I can't find anything. I guess it ranks up there with trying to find a guide for how to wipe your ***. It's common knowledge.
