Help, crank but no start.
I drove home Sunday night 50 miles with no problems. Turned the car off, went out to start it a couple hours later and it just cranked. I installed a stereo on Saturday, but I don't see how it could be a factor.
Things I've done so far:
Changed the battery.
Checked spark, had spark on all 4 cylinders.
I can hear the fuel pump and rail.
I pulled the distributor cap and the rotor looks a bit scorched and the nodes on the cap look corroded a bit. I'm about to crank it and pull a plug to make sure I'm getting fuel.
Any suggestions?
TIA

Update, just cranked and pulled a plug. It was wet with gas so that ruled that out.
Checked spark again and it was definantely blue, which from what I understand means a weak spark. Not enough to ignite the fuel?
I'm going to track down a cap and rotor and see what that does.

na if your getting spark your getting spark. Is this the civic motor or integra. It would be pretty simple to see if your getting fuel pressure, just loosen the banjo bolt half way and see if fuel starts flow.
Consider piston ring broke, if youve overheated. maybe, compression test.
Broken timing belt, does it sound like it cranks a little more freely.
Trouble shootings great.

Yea, that's true, but it's a really weak spark.
It's a 99 GSR with 59k.
I'll check the banjo bolt if the cap and rotor doesn't work.
Like I said I had just got home from a 50 mile trip with no problems, then the next time I went to start it, it just cranked. Never came close to overheating.

yhalothar!
same thing was going on with my Integra one day. then later at night it started right up.
cranking w/ no turn-over:
-ignitor pack (but you're getting spark, so rule this out)
-coil?
-i highly doubt the timing belt broke, maybe jumped a tooth or two
-rotor in poor condition would definitely hinder start-up

Going to replace the cap & rotor in the morning and go from there.
