Default why does my 89 honda civic.. hatchback.. have poppy exhaust??????

HEY WHATS UP YALL... WHEN I START MY CAR... MY MOTOR STARTS RIGHT UP.. BUT NOW THE EXAUST IS POPPIN.. LIKE WHEN ITS RUNIN THE EXHAUST.. POPS NOT BADDLY BUT JUST ENOUGHT TO NOTICE.. I WAS THINKIN MAYBE MY PLUG WIRES ARNT ON ALL THE WAY.. OR WHEN I WASHED MY CAR I HAVE A PREDATOR HOOD AND MAYBE WATER GOT IN THE DISTRIBUTOR??? WELL IF ANYONE CAN PLEASE HELP I WOULD APPRECIATE IT... THANKS EVERYONE

What kind of exhaust do you have? You might just be running a lil bit rich. My std mpfi does it all the time. Backfires a lot when i get off the gas. I like it

i have a 89 dx 1.5l d15b2 and i have focus muffler full exhaust...

i heard most likly its the plugs are going bad or are bad..

if it didn't do it before you washed the car...better take out the dizzy cap and blow out any water and also the plug wires..there may be water in the wires and on top of the plugs.

Yeah, if it just started recently I would check those things. Doesn't sound like you have such a low restriction exhaust you're getting the classic popping sound on drop throttle and such (need no cat, no muffler, just a resonator or something for this to happen).

If it pops while running, it could be missing due to numerous things, plugs, cap etc...

My exhaust pops when I shut my car off, think its because I put a resonantor on it and the gases are getting trapped in there.

hey guys whats up.. well i bought new ngk plugs and gaped them and put them in and fired right up and no popin.. thats the good news.. now.. one was off gap for some reason.. and i gaped the new ones to 44 and now its mint.. but i strated it up and its smokin now.. u think i did someting to my head? or whatever.. if anyone knows about motors.. please respond asap thanks guys..
