Knocking sound.... goes away when I press teh clutch in.
Ok, I'm getting a knocking/rattling sound on my 96 itnegra. The soudn goes away when I pusht the clutch in.
Btw this is all at idle.

I get something similar, kind of a squeling type noise, although it's hard to tell because it's a high pitch sound. It goes away when I lightly step on the clutch, not when all the way down, like the distance you have to push to make the cruise control disengage from the clutch.
Is this the same thing or something different?

I think its something different. Mine sounded like a growl, or a deep grind.

you have to drop the tranny and almost or completely disassemble it i beleive. Also i think there is a bearing press you must use to install the new bearing. Somebody correct me if im wrong please

like the others have said, it's probably the input shaft bearing. If that's not it, it's probably something inside the transmission. When you're stopped with the clutch out, the tranny spins with the engine and this is when you hear the noise. When you put the clutch in with the car stopped, the tranny will spool down to a stop, and the noise goes away. So, if this is what's happening, there's something inside of your tranny that's fugged up. It could have happened from a really REALLY crappy shift (don't ask how I know this) or just any kind of violent shock to the transmission like a burnout or a hard launch. HTH and good luck
will the input bearing go bad eventually, and are there any adverse problems with driving witha bad imput bearing?
