Default how often do things break in you ef/ed?

i know this is border line GDD but if i post there all the smart asses will chime in about their 2005 and so on. Anyhow i have a 91 crx with a first gen b16. two weeks ago my starter went out, last week my blower died, and now this week it looks like ive got a bad axle. i was just wondering if im going through a bad spell or if you guys can feel my pain.
also ive had my b16 for almost a year with the alternator that came with it. is that likely to die any day now, or how long should it last

well when i first got my LX sedan there were a ton of things wrong and/or not right on it. there were 3 brands of sparkplugs for example. the axles thuded when i turned. the cap was littery on it;s last leg and other misc things. if the previous owner abused/raced it yea things might go bad. the alt should not cause a problem but if ur battery light come on while driving then u should look at it.

Well I had my b16 for 4 years now and I just resently replaced my waterpump, timing belt, and tensioner. Only because my waterpump started leaking. Other then that the only thing I replaced on it has been numerous ignitors, alterator, and tps and batteries. Just stupid stuff thats going to go considering these motors are nearly 20 years old and that bullshit about them coming with 30-45K blah blah yeah some do but most don't. Oh yeah I broke like 6 axles but that is my own fault.

When I had my old std I did a complete tuneup on it and changed the timing belt and waterpump the day I got it..

2 weeks later the radiator started leaking..So I replaced it..
Then the rear brakes were making noise..So I fixed them..(Drums are such a pain in the ***)
Then the damn hatch shocks stopped working..So I replaced them..
Then the muffler fell off..I left it off..(Yes Im a ricer)..
The the damn header craked somehow..Put jbweld on and its perfect..
Then the doorpanels got killed by the sun
Then it started to rust..And thats when I got rid of it..

my ef's only break, when i give them a reason to break.

so when i just daily drive them, they stay ok

but when i am always revving the motor and trying to light up 4th gear things tend to break

It's funny, the manufacturer tells people to replace things after a certain number of miles.. then they're always shocked when the part fails after its time is up. Nobody seems to practice preventitive maintenance.
I know its hard to tell when you just got a used car with 200k miles on it. I say, replace it all then you'll know. Almost every part has a life expectancy, most have it labeled on the box, or warranty it for 1/2 its expected life.

It seems like every time I work on my car, somethign else breaks.

Most of the time it's old brittle bolts that like to snap in half.

I thought it was only me that went through this, It seems that every time I fix something on my CR-X a new problem comes up a week or 2 later, I fixed my axels now my damn breaks need pads, and I need a new radiator I wonder if I fix those what will happen next so I guess its a curse that most of us have

No, its because them cars are old as hell and need stuff, and then when you beat on a 17year old part it breaks, also them motors were never sopose to be in that car. I used to have a 88si and it sucked, ****** broke down ever day so i sold it and bought a salvage stolen 95 civic and restarted all over

I feel you....my girlfriend's foot, "accidently" hit my climate control...one of the ONLY EF owners to have the Original CC in their car and it breaks...oh well...it's replaceable...
I have a **** load of blowback from the tranny housing blowing all osrts of **** onto my Valvecover....I broke the IM bracket.....broke my clutch cable...and my throttle cable....I bought spares just for these reasons...the guy seemed kinda shady.....So i feel your pain....For a while there i thought only the driver side of my car hated me....then my My car got jealous fo my gf and **** started breaking on that side too...It's part of the whole EF terms of endearment....when you get that pink slip it's like saying your vows...."to cherish in sickness and health"

Mine is stock, and so is my girlfriends in her crx.

And I am pretty sure 3 crxs in the junkyard have them in perfect condtion. And there probably stock.
