Default weird cooling issue

ok..since march 6th my car has been sitting in a heated garage...i started it and let it run until fully warmed up tonight ..i was looking things over smoking a cigarette and i noticed i smelled burning coolant...but no leaks..i checked all of my coolant lines on the back of the intake manifold and firewall and everything seemd fine...i felt the radiator and it was hot but not burning hot..the fan did not come on yet but i think it was to early for that..i felt both the upper and lower rad hoses and they both were super hot and they both looked a little "bloated" espically right where the hose goes into the head on the top one..both hoses were completly pressurized and bloated looking...this got me worried so i shut it off and decided to figure this out..the idle started loping when it got warm too..any ideas?

have you noticed if your coolant level has gone down at all in the reservoir?

and youre smelling coolant?
check underneath the driverside dash and feel around the floor to see if it feels damp.. or maybe if you can see underneath, there are two bronzish looking pipes, sometimes you can see if something is leaking from them...

maybe your heater core is leaking?

i did smell a little coolant..but not inside the car...under the hood only..and there arent any leaks...the floor is dry...the sensor on the back of the intake manifold next to the throttle body made a weird buzzing sound but only when i gave it a little throttle(about 500 rpm over idle)..but it went away when it went back to idle(900rpm)

Umm...maybe, but if you've ever done a heater core on an EG, you'd know that you can't see where the lines go into the case. They're completely hidden from the interior until you remove the entire dash, dash subframe assy, and heater case...

maybe its a leaking head gasket and you smell the coolant after its being burned in the exuast system. try a cylinder leak down test on all 4 cylinders

He said its a new head gasket, so I doubt that is the problem.

It still may be a head issue. Did you get the head checked, to make sure it wasnt warped?
