power steering is low !!!
I don't know if you thought he was being sarcastic or not, but just to clarify things up it actually will say "Power Steering Fluid, for Honda Vehicles" on the cover of the bottle. You're supposed to use a special fluid, if you go to like Jiffy Lube they'll probly top it off for you for free, If not just try a parts store.

Correct. I prefer genuine Honda fluid, but any fluid marked "For Honda & Acura vehicles" will be fine, and you should be able to find it at your local auto parts store. Here's an example photo just for reference:

Mine was very low the other day. I put Honda PS fluid in it, and so far it hasnt seemed to use any more fluid.
Is there any reason for it to be almost all the way gone last week, but now not using any fluid now? Like why was it gone in the first place, and why hasn't it shown any fluid loss now?
Thanks

Probably not the right type. It must be DOT 3 Honda PS fluid. I prefer to go to Honda and buy the real stuff (even if it costs more). After topping of mine last year, it hasn't needed it since. Get the real stuff

What's the difference between the "Honda PS Fluid" and the regular dot 3 **** that everyother car in the world uses and is readily availble? Fact's preferably, not "cause I prefer"...Thanks

Your vehicle requires Honda Power Steering fluid as well as Honda manual transmission fluids. This means fluids from Honda, not an aftermarket manufacturer. Honda is a very well made vehicle, and proper care using the correct fluids for all applications will help to isure a long life from the vehicle.
The reason that honda's use their own power steering fluid is because if you use anything else in there it will eat away and disolve the o-rings and seals in the power steering system. Honda specially formulates their power steering fluid for their cars, exclusively.
Same with coolant. It is silicate free made for their aluminum engines.
Besides, there isn't a good reason NOT to.

So the coolent is also Honda propriatary?
Eh, I'm beginning to feel like I bought a Mac or something lol.
J/K
I just replaced the radiator last year, but I only put regular half and half in it. Should I flush and fill it?

Thanks for the back up!
Clearly if you do not know the difference between Honda PS fluid and aftermarket DOT 3 PS fluid, then maybe you should look into buying a Ford Focus. The point I made before and what flood said, is that with the real stuff you do not need to "top it off" as much. The reason you need to keep topping it off is because it is going into your seals and evaporating. Get the real stuff

Heh...
I'm a GO Honda fan myself, but this honda only fluids thing has gotten out of hand...
You'd think a company that does nothing but focus on there specific fluid would know a thing about it aswell, and not make something that will DESTROY your honda if it says it will work with them.
I geuss companies like Mobile1 who make all the oils for most european exotic cars from the factory should learn a thing or two from Honda on fluids...
But like ya said to each there own.
Ask most pro racers and people who have 300,000km's+ on there honda beaters if they use only honda fluids. I think you'll be surprised. And most people on here are far from stock anymore so what was designed for stock might not work anymore.
At any rate, go Honda..

Other companies do not care if it is the same; if they put made for Honda's then poeple will buy it. It is always better to buy things that are the same name brand and are designed to go with that car.
I do agree though that this discussion is getting a little heated. It's just PS fluid. Let's bring it down a notch.

Dude...its MOBIL 1
Why don't you show us more about how much you know? Teach us oh great one!
And most racers use a brake fluid with a higher boiling point than
DOT 3 (401/284)
DOT 4 (446/311)
