Every once in awhile when I go to take off from a stop light, right after I make it into 2nd gear my CRX starts sputtering like it's getting no gas at all. I'll give it more gas but it just doesn't seem to work and sometimes the RPM's will go so far down the car stalls. After I crank it back up and rev it a lil I'll put it in gear and go before it can act up again and sometimes it'll do it again sometimes it'll run fine the rest of the way home. Also to sometimes when I push the clutch in the RPM's will fall so far the car stalls, usualy when this happens I crank it back up and it'll run fine. One side note, usually when the car sputters like that the check engine light will come on, but if I turn the car off and back on it'll go away. Anyone know whats going on? I was wondering if it was either a bad fuel filter or loose throttle cable, I just bought the car last month and haven't had time to have it checked out good but I am planning to soon.

P.S - The guy I bought it from said its a JDM D15B Vtech engine...thanks guys

 

What ecu did the guy use for the d15b vtec??

 

Im not sure, I can check, what kind of ECU should be under the hood?

It should be a obd1 vtec ecu..p28 for example..

If its running like **** then chances are it is still pre obd with a rigged up distributor..Thats what Im thinkin right now

And the ecu isnt under the hood..Its on the floor on the passenger side under the carpet..

 

Thing is it doesn't run like that all the time, it happens very spaced out and in between it runs fine, and my vtech works.
