Default Need help on Shift rod Oil seal!!!!!

Hey guys i searched and found that one person said you have to open up the tranny and others say to just use a flat head to pop out the seal it seems that my tranny is leaking fluid from this seal pretty bad. But it is not sittin in the tranny flush is it supposed to?

How hard is this to replace ?

Thanks

Spence

its not that hard to replace... take out your shift linkage, pop out the seal with a flat head screwdriver, then take the new seal and lube the inner lip with grease(i use honda hitemp grease), find a socket that fits the outer diameter of the seal and gently hammer it back in... thats it. alignment of the seal is important! make sure its even gap around the seal to the tranny and it should have a gap of about 5mm for the boot that goes over it.. hope this help. good luck.

Well just to give you guys a update for future people searching this topic. This took me like 3 hrs to do and they where long. It took me for ever to get the bitch pin out since i did not have much room to swing the hammer. The seal popped out no problem i replaced it did the reverse and refilled the tranny fluild to see if i had any leaks. Unfortunatly it was not that seal like i had thought i guess i had lost enough fluid in one day that i could not see the axle seal leaking. So it looks like ill be replacing the axle seal. Anyway thats what ill be doing her soon

Thanks

Spencer
