Weird Suspension Problem
So, we worked on the car yesterday, just some minor stuff. Did the rear brake lines (SS) and also took out the rear suspension (Spoon N1s) and outfitted them with the stock bump stops and dust covers. We'd already done the fronts a month ago.
So, after we put the car together, on the drive back home, the rear was so bouncy, I nearly had to stop and call a tow truck.
The damper settings are at 2 all the way around, but the way rear was acting, I though it was at full stiff or even higher. (the settings are 1-5). I somehow managed to get home, checked the settings, and sure enough, 2 all the way around. Got under the car, everything was tight, so I'm not sure what's happened. Almost as if 2 is now 5 or something.
There's no way we could've damaged anything, so what gives? Could the settings have been messed up as we were trying to put the the bump stops and dust boots? Unlikely, but I have no other explanation.

Are you pretty low? Did you cut down the bump stops? If you are pretty low and the bump stops aren't cut then you were prob bouncing off the bump stops! I always cut them in half.
Did you check to see what would happen if you set the rears at 1 or 5?
Also, do you need to trim the bump stop, or can you just drop them in the shocks?

I always thought we could put the bump stops as is, without any mods. I'd asked about this here before, and that was the response. The fronts work fine, but maybe the rears weren't happy?
Yes, the car is quite a bit lowered. We'll probably go ahead and take them out. I think jdmitr is on the money here.

you want a bit of bump stop in there. just in case you bottom out. Didn't Spoon include any instructions showing what type/size bump stop to put in there? If not, call up AJ and see if they have any other info.

No, the kit comes without bump stops and there are no instructions on how the re-use the stock ones. So, maybe Spoon didn't intend for any bump stops to be used at all.
The car drove fine without them. I don't really want to cut the bump stops, they cost $25 at the dealer, I may have to re-use them again with the stock suspension.
If anything, the fronts would probably be in any danger of bottoming out, the bump stops seem to be doing the job there.
Quick6, the car is undrivable at the moment.
Let's undo our suspension work, and bleed the brakes also. Feels like I'm driving a Toyota with that extra mushy brake pedal.
