i have a fake j's racing intake, and after about 20-30 minutes of driving my car is slower. its not a huge difference but i can tell my car is not as fast as it was when it was cold under the hood. So i saw the air duct's that j's racing was selling for around 150-200. i wouldnt mine having that but i will NOT pay 200 dollars for that piece that cost them less then 5 bucks to make.
So i had an extra short ram intake arm laying around and i stuck it under the bumper and not threw the foglight because it didnt bend that way. Do u guys think this thing is legit, i just stuck it on today and started driving with it. Also what should i use to cut on this plastic with?

 

it would be pretty cool if you cut it flat with the angle of the underside of the car

or you could wait until the asphault files it down for you

thats what i was thinking, what should i use to cut the plastic with?

 

build an aluminium box for the filter so as to not allow underhood air into that section of the engine bay... and feed fresh air with your lil scoop

 

you can use a dryer duct to bent that way it works very well you will notice a big difference

yes, i was also working onthat idea also... does anyone have any links to any heat shields anyone has made for there civic?

it seemed all the dryer ducts were to big to fit through the hole in the engine bay? did u have a problem with this? or do they make smaller ones

 

You can use a table saw to cut the plastic. Just be careful. Other, more timely options would be a jigsaw, or a dremmel.

 

I have my stock airbox rigged similarly.
I just cut the plastic with a hacksaw and then sanded it smooth again.

yeah i was thinking the hacksawwould be my best bet, thanks guys and pdiggitydogg, u think i could see some pictures of your intake setup?

 

no they make smaller ones i think it is made for like a exaust fan for the bathroom. it is just a stiff tube made of all tin or whatever it is just go the the section in a hardware store where they have the fans for bathrooms. it should be in there

 

i got mine at home depot so if you have one near you it should defently be there. cuz they all stock the same ****

 

Cant really see my stuff, unless I remove the bumper....and I honestly dont feel like doing that.
But like I said, its just the stock downpipe that sucks cooler air from behind the front wheel (like a cai) into the stock box with a sri arm instead of the black rubber tube.

 

I ran an air duct from Home Depot to the front of the bunper grill right next to the fog lights (EK) but when my friend got her front bumper replaced they didn't do it right, cuz you need to cut away a bit of the back of thee bumper so the duct can slide through and sit when the bumper is reattached. Also, Weapon R has a Airbox that you can buy and modify to fit the J's if you want. Look it up on Nopi or Waepon R's site, good luck.

Yea i would build a box that the lower intake peice would conect to. that way u would have like an air chamber in there. drill little holes in the bottom of it so if water gets in it, the water can drain out.

 

dude just take a huge drill bit and drill out one of youre brights, and put the hose coming out the headlight, my buddy just did it on his 98' Gs-T, it looks fooken meannnn too, soo nice.

His headlights ar glass, and its a high/low beam. so that wont work

Anyways, when the car is in motion the air temps under the hood aren't that different from the air temps outside the car. Radio Shack sells inexpensive digital thermometers with memory to record high/low temps. The few degrees difference won't affect a Civic's power output that much.
