Hey Guys,

I hate to ask this cause it's such a noob question, but I've never installed a rear sway bar before so here goes. On the exhuast side, does the sway bar go under the exhaust pipe (closer to the ground) or above it?

Under it i believe. Youll see when your under the car its straight forward. 2 seconds of looking at it i got it no sweat. Sad part is my friend (whos car we were working on) was looking at it for a good 1/2 hour while i went to autozone and he couldnt figure it out.

Straight forward for some and i guess not for others.

 

Here's the thing, I've installed it already. The car is still in the air right now on jack stands. The sway bar actually touches an exhault bolt on the exhaust pipe. This leads me to believe that when I put the car on the ground, the springs will compress, causing the lca's and sway bar endlinks to raise, causing the sway bar so dig into the exhaust pipe. See what I'm saying?

 

You are supposed to install it with a load on the car. So your best bet would be ramps.

Right, so the endlinks will line up with the threads on the lca's.

Just need to know if the sway bar goes below or above the exhaust pipe.

I would take the sway bar off, put the car down go out and buy ramps and do it again. Even putting on his sway bars i dont think i would have done it with jacks because something is going to give. And when it does

You're the man. That clearly shows it goes under the exhaust. My sway bar is shaped a little differently but I'll figure it out.

Ok, now my buddy is saying that it goes OVER the sway bar. I just lowered the car, and it seems OK with the sway bar under it.

Someone please take another clear pic of the exhaust side of the sway bar. GSR Sway on EH2.

i have an ek hatch, and have a similar problem. i don't think its really that bad, but anyway... the sways do go under the exhaust... the problem is that my exhaust piping rests on top of my type r sway, when driving some times it likes to rattle the sway and sounds horrible. the sound is similar to it hitting your bumper. any suggestions?

That's the same problem I have now. I've got a stock exhaust, and the sway bar hits a bolt on the exhaust piping right behind the bumper. I'm just going to try and shave the bolt a little short with a dremel.

 

my friend told me that we could raise the exhaust hangers or buy shorter ones. all of that in order to lift it off the sway. or i could take out the sway, but no way am i doing that haha... oh yeah i have an aftermarket exhaust (tanabe smr).... i never had any problem with my stock exhaust on. so i'm not sure about your situation

 

Ya, there's no way in hell I'm buying shorter hangers for my POS stock exhaust.
