leakin oil in spark plug

Default leakin oil in spark plug

98 gsr. today as i was tryin to change my spark plug. when i pulled out the spark plug tube thing there was oil in there. the 3 spark plug on the left was fine and dry but the one in the far right had a good amount of oil in it. is something leakin? what should i do im worried about my car.

need new valve cover sealant things i forgot what they are called. its the rubber triming that u put on ur valve cover.

u need a new spark plug O-ring gasket, if u gonna be changing those mine as well change the valve cover gasket too for one job .....

ya.. change the spark plug seals and valve cover seal.

my spark plug seal was leaking into my #2 cylinder and had oil like you say.. cheap and easy to do.

how do i go about changin the spark plug and valve cover seal. do i need take out the hole valve cover?

But be careful, because it's also very easy to overtighten & break the studs (#18) that hold the valve cover down.

You need the sparkplug tube seals #7. Maybe get 'em together in a kit with the VC gasket #5 and the grommets #23.

yep happened to me and i ended up not knowing what to do and put on a whole new head gasket while i was at it..

i ordered the Valve Cover Seal Washer and Spark Plug Seal, lets see if this will stop the leaking

okay i intsalled it today everything looks good. i had to stuff napkins in the spark plug hole to drain out all the oil though which was a bitch. hopemy copper plugs would be fine tho ohh yeaa u dont even need to use the valve cover seal! that was useless just stick with the spark plug seal and if ur at it change all 4.

ur motor gonna probly smoke for a couple of minutes until u burn off the oil that went on the top of the pistons

couple of drops fell on the header when i was removing the valve cover. when i was turning on the engine the header had steam coming out of it, for a split second i thought my engine was burning up or something LOL
