Default May Score A Free 1991 Honda Accord Ex - Need Your Advices...

My uncle has a 5-Spd 1991 Accord Ex and may get rid of it. The body is in good condition, no accidents, but faded paint. Thats the least of my concerns.

The engine is dead. I think it has a blown head gasket, dead clutch, leaking "something", and a few other problems. I havent talked to him much about the car.

If I tell him that I want it, he may give it to me for free .

I dont know much about accords, but do have a sense of what can be swapped to them. I'll probably want to get a usdm motor for it to make things easier for CA emissions.

This is where I need your help.

What do I need to do this swap.

Parts:
Shifter Cable - These use cables, right?
Mounts
Axles
Wire harness

Give me all the details. What will I run into if I decide to get "X" motor?

I can probably get a prelude engine of some sort, or a newer accord motor. Something that will drop right in without having to Fabricate anything on the chassis would be great.

Thanks

the h22 is a direct bolt up the tranyy ecu and motor, u wont need anything not unless u wana have powersteering u can use the accord bracket on the prelude for the steering but i just took mine off less weight, the ecu will plug right up, u will need to run the wires for ur vtec, iab valve, and the knock sensor the accord wiring harness will go right on the prelude u might need to extend 1 or 2 wires but thats about it.

If what I read it correct, the h22 is a straight forward process.

When you say, run wires for vtec, (I've never done this) how? Intake air bypass valve, how?

The existing wire harness on the 91 accord will work if I used a prelude motor? From what year h22?

What about the mounts? Shift Linkage/Cable, axles, etc..

If I were to get an h22, what year would be best? On the 92, the valve cover doesnt have the vtec lettering. Are those vtec engines?

Am I missing anything else, anyone?

V6 motor, Isnt that alot of money? 240 sounds nice, but I dont plan to spend more than 2k for the complete swap (parts, etc). Hopefully, it wont cost more than that.

I just want to make it run well with the swap, and sell it to some kid in the future once Im done with it. I figure I can make some money by getting the shell for free and spend a few for the motor, then sell it.

Thanks for the links...

Im sure those fit, but are those Tl's, V6 Accords, and legend motors a direct bolt on? Im looking for the simplest method, without having to fab anything. Some of them are fairly cheap, but I still have to get all the required accessories to make it run.

from what I understand, the V6 isn't a direct bolt in swap, just like in the 5th gens. The V6 is much larger than the I4.

I need to keep it simple because I know I wont keep it for long. Probably not now at least, so spending alot on something that requires alot of money isnt a good thing.

I'll probably call the local junkyard and get me a complete H22 from 93-up. They charge alot, but I want to see if I can score something cheap because of the motor being 10+ years old.
