burning Flywheel Question!
no my flywheels not on fire
how do u know if your flywheel has to be resurfaced? I just pulled the tranny off a gsr motor which has 50k miles...the flywheel is pretty smooth and the clutch disc has good wear left...im trying to see if i can get away with putting it back in or while im at it go for an exedy organic clutch with 12# flywheel at prostreetonline.com
someone told me to just clean off the flywheel with brake cleaner ...
does it have to be propperly aligned or can u just slap it back on...im asking becuase the clutch comes with an aligninment tool.

Here's the deal:
If you are replacing the clutch, you REALLY should resurface the flywheel. Not doing so will cause your clutch disc to chatter more and wear more quickly, not to mention the fact that it will decrease its performance.
If you just going to slap the same setup back together thats fine, it wore together. Otherwise, spend the $30 it costs to have it turned.

If you don't want to spend the $30 to have it resurfaced, at least inspect it really good. Look for any areas of glazing or discoloration, just like brake rotors. If there's ANYTHING that looks uneven from place-to-place around the friction surface, then you better get it done.
there is no point in resurfacing the flywheel just to throw the old disc and pressure plate back on. if you are gonna do a new clutch then i would say to resurface it. The alignment tool is needed to get the disc in the right place so the transmission imput shaft slides in
