Default My car feels slower with the lighten flywheel...

Just installed a ACT street disc with a exedy 8.8lb lighten flywheel in my 95 GSR. I just broke in the clutch and flywheel but the car feels slower than before. It seems to lag when I full throttle it. I had my mechanic put it in last week. Any suggestion?

there is most likely a problem some where between the seat and the steering wheel

yeah i came on to post some junk for sale and took a look around while i was at it.

seriously though... to the original poster, unless the clutch is slipping (not likely- you could smell/hear it) a lighter flywheel wont have anything to do with the car feeling slower.

nope, it can't be the clutch because it's a brand new clutch. I've heard that it takes about 500 miles to break in a clutch on this forum. But when I looked it up on ACT faq they say for a street clutch it takes only about 200-300 miles for it to break in. I push mines at 215 miles on the brand new clutch/flywheel

i have a 20ft break in period. Back 20ft out of my garage and give it hell down the alley. If shes blow, she'll do the deed right away.

On a serious note, my b18c/Ek felt slower as well with the JUN 9lb flywheel. When i put the stocker back in before i sold it, seemed quicker for some reason. no dyno/track before or afters... My clutch sure as **** wasnt slipping...

most people say you lose a low end torque with a lightened flywheel.

When you say it's lagging at full throttle, are you punching it around 3-4k,
or 5-6k ?

When exactly does it feel slower? When you are accelerating from a stop or when you are crusing off throttle then gun it? Maybe it doesnt matter, but...
I take it that there is less mass therefore less momentum. If you are dumping the clutch at launch the flywheel will have less momentum to keep the engine rotating causing the engine to fall out of the power band. Also if you get off the throttle while normal driving then get back on it, the time you are off the throttle the flywheel will slow quicker falling out of the power band.
It should rev quicker at idle and once the car is moving I say it will accelerate quicker.
Less rotating mass = freeing up HP?

lol.. i had a stock clutch in my LS powered eg with the clutchmasters "7.5lb" flywheel and switched to the clutchmasters clutch, the next day i drove to seattle international raceway and ran it.. hard. never had one problem with it! and on the topic, i never did drive my car without the flywheel, so i wouldn't be able to give a good comparison as far as before / after.. i never had problems with it though, always revved quick, and never had problems with "rpms dropping" .. which is what i always see on h-t

I full throttle it around 4k rpm (for example I come to a stop, put it in first, drive it on 1st gear until it rev to 4k than full throttle it) Now when I had the stock clutch and flywheel the car would pick up fast (not lag) But now when I intalled the the street clutch and 8.8lb flywheel, it doesn't pick up as fast as it use to be (rpm doesn't pick up as fast as before).

I haven't launch the car yet.. I'm running the BFG G-force drags (grabs badass) on my stock 95 wheels... I launch around 5-5.5k rpm when I do race

on my old SOHC i went from stock to 14lbs.... and it felt quicker, especially on the freeway...

with my B16, i put in a CTR flywheel, and that too seems to rev quicker.
