Well I finally found the car im looking for and the seller has agreed to a price im willing to pay.
I haven't seen the car yet but apparently it is pristine, its a milano red one with roughly 17,000 miles (38,000 km)
I'm just wondering is their anything I should be looking out for with a car that has mileage this low ? Is their any way to tell if the odo has been played with or the car is not true to mileage.
Also is their anything i can look at visually to tell how well the engine has been taken care of ?
If anyone can help me with some pointers as to what to check on low mileage cars I'd appreciate it.
Also how long would most of you guys wait before changing the timing belt ?
Thanks

It's basically like looking at any other car. Check the oil, check for oil leaks, listen to the motor to make sure it sounds smooth. Also giving it a compression test should give you a good indication of the condition of the motor. Beyond that, just make sure that the components on the engine are indeed the Type R components (tranny, intake manifold, etc) and you should be good.
The car is only 5 years old. It should be fine. I would ask when the miles were put on it. If its been sitting a lot lately look for dried out seals (leaks). The timing belt should be replaced at 60K miles.
Also note, if you are not familiar with driving a Type R there is a lot of mechanical noise since ther is so little sound deadening. That is normal. You can hear plenty of valve noise from the drivers seat. Also lots of road noise from the rear area and plenty of stones pinging off the fenderwells.
Make sure the tranny shifts smoothly.
Other than that its just like buying any other used car.

Wow....looks to be in pretty decent shape from the pics shown (which are few i guess). Read the advice posted above and you should be fine. Best wishes with the deal
Milano red R = :blort:
I want one
Arrange for a PPI at the dealer, have them do a thorough inspection, look for possible body repair, etc.

So that's what that is
Nice car BTW. If it's possible, take it to an Acura dealership or certified mechanic for an inspection. Best $100CAD I've spent on my car for peace of mind.

B18C7 is the Aussie spec ITR motor. I believe the red paint is used for replacement blocks. I could be completely wrong. What do you mean by creak? Do you want to sell your cluster?

Normal with all integras.... i believe you can tighten down the little rubber stoppers under the hatch....

Can anyone confirm if red paint on australian b18c7 blocks has any significance ?
I would think you would be able to take the car to the dealer and they would be able to tell you what the red paint on the block means. If it is a new block chances are they suplied it and can tell you what was up.
