Tires for Expo
Ok since I am thinking about going to expo, I'm going to need new tires. I want R tires for the track however I only have 1 set of rims. I need some help on what to do.
1) Buy some cheap rotas in 15" and put some good R comp. tires on it and just get falkins for my stockies
2) buy some MF-10s and falkins for daily driver and get R comp. tires for my stockies
3) buy some millenium rims and put some good R comp on them and get falkins for my stockies.
Thanks for the help. And no money is no object, but I might nut up and get some mf-10's as i've wanted them since i first saw them on a black itr.

Whatever you do - bring an extra set of rims/tires so you can drive home in case you bung up one (or two) of your track tires.
I would go with the 16" Mf-10s and 15" track tires. MF-10s rawk!

The thing is my RE010's are almost done. And expo is 1300 miles away. So I need something to drive there on. Plus I want track only tires so I will have a set to drive home on.

Notwithstanding the "money is no object" comment, I'd think you can drive up from FL on your stockies and either some Aziens (sp) or some 032Rs.
Personally, MF-10s or some SSR comps (type C) with some real slicks would be fun (but maybe not something you'd want to be doing for the first time without trying/getting used to them on a track closer to home first).
Cool!

I also have a fairly new set of 195-50 s03s that I might sell, not sure on that yet though.
Just to clairify, I will have two sets of rim/tires for expo. The daily drivers that will get me up and back from expo. Then also a set with race only tires on them to use on the track.

bridgestone s03 pole positions are street tires - just about the best street tires you can get, aside from michelin pilot sports maybe... they're both awesome street tires.

What are s03's? Track or street tires?

Street. Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Positions to be more precise.

I'm kind of in the a similar situation. I have a set of stockers with A032rs mounted on them, and a brand new set of Rotas still in the box. I have a few options myself.
1. keep AO32rs on OEM wheels and buy a set of Azenis for the Rotas
2. throw AO32rs on Rotas and throw almost bald Potenzas on the stockers
3. Keep A032 rs on OEM, throw bald potenzas on the Rotas
I have no clue what to do, maye I'll feed off of what you decide

Millenium wheels with street tires to use on track.
"R" compunds cover up mistakes.

If this is your first track event, don't run on R compounds. Get a good set of street tires. You will learn more and save a bunch of money.
Competition tires don't "talk" to you like street tires. When comp tires start talking, you need to brace yourself for the wall you're about to hit
Thanks for the points... ok what kind of street tires would you sugest for the track. I'll also have another set of tires for daily driving so I'm not buying tires every month.
I've driven on the Pirelli P700's for awhile, and will try to get 2 more HPDE's out of them. Will's going to run his first event on the Azenis, which I'm sure he'll post his impressions of...
P700's are about $52 per tire, while Azenis are a bit more expensive but not much.

Do you guys (you know who I'm talking to
) consider the 032R and Aziens track or street tires?
BTW -- Just got back from NTB and they are asking $90+ for the Aziens (yes, each).

$90 for Azenis???
I just stopped by on the way home,
needed to pick up a package at the rental office that came in yesterday.
Has anyone driven both the Aziens and the 032R, and would care to comment on the two?
i'm going to order a set of azenis in march so i should have them mounted and ready for the expo. i have kumho v700 (225/50 front & 205/50) on millenia wheels but those are autox-only; this is my first track event and i'm not going to do it on race tires.
generally, the wheels one chooses is dictated by the class they want to run. i don't know how track events are classed, but you aren't stock anyway. i don't know how much money you want to spend (millenia, rotas, kosei k1 are light & cheap), but i'm a fan of spending to get exactly what you want, ie mf10. i say mf10 with s02/s03 for the street and stockers/azenis for the track.
