not that one...

You have to get 2 bolts that are on the chasis, if you stand in front of the wheel and look straight in past it, you'll see 2 bolts, (12mm) take them off and then you should be able to move that whole thing up and down so the shock comes out.

EDIT: 12mm

from the bolt you're looking at, follow to the upper camber control arm. remove the two bolts that hold that arm to the body. those are normally not seized like the other bolts with bushings so that'll be your best bet. after those two bolts are removed, the strut will drop.

ya they fail to mention this problem in the books. you need spring compressors ($10-20) or you can do it the cheap but more dangerous way ($ depends on injuries and damage). take a jack and jack up the fork of the shock . when high enough to clear LCA (LCA can be pushed down some with bar) pull jack to side just enough to get shock out and let down while standing as far away as possible. again this method is unsafe.

That's not really nessesary... I've done quite a bit of suspension work, and the only reason you would need a spring compressor would be to take the spring out and reuse that shock...

You dont need one to get the fullshock/spring out from the car.

easiest ive done it many times is to take off the upper arm [2 12mm bolts] and step on the drum and have a friend take out the assembly.

well i dont know what he plans on doing but if he is just trying to change suspension then why play with all these bolts and risk breaking them when he can jsut use the srping somressors and remove one bolt??

then i suggest using the compressors and not removing anymore bolts to remove the shock assembly

They're a little tough (been there several years) but they'll come out with a little patience and strength.

I didnt read up on all the replies but the bolts you're taking out I NEVER take out.. The bolt thats circled in the first pic thats circled you dont need to touch the one right next to it looks like you already removed it then at the other end of the LCA remove that 14mm bolt, then the 2 14mm nuts on the top of the strut and thats it.. Just go back to the outside of the car and pull the lca down and the suspension will come out...

the thing is that theres a cup on the side where the nut is on the end of the LCA that connects to the body i cant get any tool in there to hold it even if it did budge...

Air tools You gotta tighten then loosen, tighten then loosen, tighten then loosen! Trust me this will work for frozen bolts. Also I remove the lower control arm bolt thats on the subframe not all those other bolts
