Default Motegi a reputable rim?

I am thinking about getting a pair of rims for my EK Civic and I found a set of Motegis that I really like. How reputable are Motegis? And at 19lbs for 17's is this too heavy?? I don't plan on doing any street racing, I just want to get rid of those ugly steel rims and hub caps. What do you guys think? I can get them around $120 per rim brand new.

Here is a car the same color as mine.

And the Motegi FF15

Nope not too good, 17's are too big for a civic, and yah those are super heavy Unless your dealing with the ro_ja, but those are $$. Get some rota's, if you got the bucks, go with like a volk, or something like a work wheel.

In my opinion i would rather keep the hubcaps, and put some azenis on there, than rock those.

you wanna rock pep-boys rims? j/k

17 are just a little to much for a civic imo. but if your going show, get it... Rotas are about $125 a rim and weight a little less than steelies. rota's got a freaking crap load of cop's, check it out before you buy motegi.

As mentioned, they are heavy but sturdy. I don't think they are bad quality, just heavy. However, some people don't care about weight. I don't think 17s are too big if you're going for looks. If people had said 17s were too big five years ago (or less), you would've gotten laughed off the street.

If you like the looks, don't care about the weight, and they're the right price, I say get them.

However, let me add this. I think a smaller wheel such as a 15 makes the car more fun to drive due the the smaller rotating mass and less weight. But again, if you're more interested in show that's one thing.

That accord is hot, but the rims may be a little bit too big.

I really don't want 18's but thanks for the offer. I wish I could buy the rims, try them out and take them back if I don't like them. I don't think they would take them back though. Thanks for all the replys. I have heard some stories about motegis and being extremely sturdy. I wouldn't be very happy if I hit a curb or pot hole and the rim cracked or broke.

Motegi is a commonly used entry level wheel. They are one of the easiest wheel manufactures to resell. That is why your local shop carrys them.

Motegi does have a few line of forged wheels coming out soon. The name may not be in favor but the direction in which the company is heading will soon and should get some of your attention.

My friend had a set on his integra and loved them, they are now on his civic. I have heard war stories about rotas when you drive rough. But also if you have so many sets on the road there will be problems with some, just nature.

motegi rims are ok i have had a set if them and people saying 17s are to big are smoking crack. On a 98 civic they fit pretty good. On a crx yes they are to big. But who cares you are building you own car if you like the wheels buy them. Motegi makes some kick *** forged wheels to if you are looking for something more light weight. Poeple kill me on honda-tech saying that 15 inch wheels are the best and that every thing they read on the internet is true. Yes you can get peoples opinion about some wheels but just about every body said get rotas, I want my car to look just like everybody elses car.

motegis arent bad for their price yes they are heavy as hell but they are of decent quality and imo 17s are to big for any civic i think 16s look right at home in both shows and on the track

i had some for my first set of rims on an integra, they were good for me since i was in high school and i didn't do any racing. if you want them for looks, then go ahead b/c they are good quality, just a little heavy.

what kind of look are you going for? if you want the sport look, i would recommend you stick with the rota becuz they are cheap and look very aggressive. dun go anything bigger than 16 inches becuz that is just too big for a civic, too expensive, makes your car look like its lifted, makes your car slower, and its vunerable to dents from speed bumps if you go a bit too fast. just try to get some 15 or 16s and then lower ur car 1 inch.. that should cost you less than the 17inch package ( rims/tires) and you will handle better.

Okay my opinion 17's are not too big. You can lower your civic to a 2.5" drop and the wheels tuck under the fenders.....I think that looks fuc*in clean as hell. Yeah it would be nice to have some rotas but they are more money and your less likely gonna have them for your car to look good (show car)... I think that Motegi makes a good rim and if you want your car to look good then get some. Who gives a fu*k about weight...come on seriously its not like most of the people on here are just gonna race all the time, and even if the rims weigh 5 lbs more than "Average" 17" rims its not that big of a deal.

Motegi's are ricer crap around here, basically a Pep Boy rim. Every single kid who drives a Cavalier or Neon has the MR-7's. I personally hate them because of that, but other than that...I would definitely say go with the Rotas and don't go bigger than 16's
