Default Smog Issue: Emitting High NOx Levels-- Is it the radiator?

Just took my car into the test only shop today. My moms 94 LS failed. The radiator had a crack in and I made serveral attempts to fix it using aluminum shavings. (that silver dry stuff you buy in a tube) Is hat something that will force my cooling system malfunction and assist it in emitting the high nox levels?

I think I will be changing the cat (more than 11 years old), the o2 sensor, fuel filter, spark plug wires (i thought they were good appearance wise, they are oldt though). Perhaps seafoaming? and ???? any other tips to help me fix my moms car would be great.

Thanks again all.

change all of that stuff and then let us know. that just might do it. NoX is created primarily by high combustion temps, so it might just be running lean.

I doubt it is the radiator at all. The thing most likely is your cat, O2 sensor, or any kind of air leak. how high is your idle rpm?
