I have the Harbor Frieght 4x6 bandsaw, not sure of the price now,but I signed up at their website for e-mail specials, and they send one anout once a week, they sent one about 2+ years ago that had it on sale for $139,I printed it out and took it to the store and got it for that price.Northern Tool,Tractor Supply Co,ENCO,Wholesale Tool,Cummings tool (maybe) all carry the "same" saw,Just branded different.I've been happy with mine,no problems or quirks, except the stand is a little cheesy.Got the stuff to make another one with a tray ,but havent got around to it.I did go to a Homier tool sale the other day, they got a 4x6 for $199 that looks pretty gamn good for the price,I dont see it on their website but somewhere there there is a place to sign up and they'll e-mail you a couple of weeks ahead of time if they come within X annount of miles,75 i think it might be.

The one on the left is the one like I have, the one on the right is the one Homier has for $199.This is not my picture,I stole it from :
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/4x6bandsaw
I would get the homier if I'd saw it 2 yrs abo when I got mine, but they didnt carry it then.

i just bought the harbor freight 4x6 for $159 at the store. not a bad saw for the money. seems like it is taking forever to cut through stuff but i think i need to switch out the blade they give you with it to something beefier with less teeth.

Dont skimp on your blade when you buy one,I stick to quality bi-metal blades like lenox ,starrett, morse,or kennametal.Enco carries all of these except lenox, scroll up and down from here:

I have the hf one and think it sucks. the first blade was slick on the first piece of sch.40. I got a good blade and now it keeps jumping off the wheels inside the case. anyone know how to fix this?

Buy a different band saw

I've heard of a lot of cheap bandsaws doing this.

See above post about buying a good blade, blade poping off is usually one of two things with the HF 4x6,the blade that comes with it (is junk compaired to a good one) or blade tension.Since you got a better blade try the tension,it needs to be as tight as you can get it,if it still pops off,get somebody with a better grip and more strength to tighten it

I have the HF one also, and have no problems with blade life. Still on the original blade after 2 months of cutting chromoly pipes, steel plates and a lot of aluminum stuff. I even bought a couple of spare blades expecting them to wear out quickly, but that isn't the case.

I did have a problem with the blade jumping, but we just kept cranking up the tension until it stopped. I will have to look into higher quality blades though, it cuts rather slowly.

about blades .. they dont seem to carry (enco . online places) a lennox 7'9" blade in bi metal thats 3/4 inch thick . thats what my band saw takes .. now they carry a **** load of 1/2 bi metals . can i get away with using a less wider blade ? o yea morse blades are no good .. thats the only bimetal enco carrys for my size and sch40 tears it up .. even when i put the hydro feed at a snails pace and keep lube on it like a **** ..

i wanna order a lennox but enco only has 1/2

If you want a tight *** blade for that 4x6 saw get on mcmaster.com and put in this part number 4179A144 this blade is a bimetal blade that cuts awsome!

I have used it to cut sch40 pipe collectors, streight cuts 14gauge steel u name its been cutting it like a champ for the last month and I kid u not my 4x6 saw has been running almost everyday cutting stuff. The blade still looks close to new..
The problem ur having with the blade poping off is pure tension of the blade and having all the bearings and wheels positioned right.
