Should I return my chop saw?
Its a Ryobi and its 32 days old! Ive been out of the country for 11 of those days.. and used it for probably only 2 weekends.. So 4 days of use..
The thing cannot cut straight to save its life! No amount of patience or finess can stop the blade from walking about 7mm, yes 7mm side to side.
I am not usually one to return things but this thing is really pissing me off!
Whats the general consensus? I would like to get a band saw and I think this should go back to the home depot ? Would I be wrong to return it ? Oh, I paid $175 for it...

It is likely an issue that can be solved. Sometimes, cutting with too much force will make the blade bend and cut crooked. Maybe your doing that or using a blade that's thinner than normal. Also, hold the blade down near the base of the saw and check to see that it's square (blade not spinning).
If you do find it's defective, I would definitely take it back.

I also thought that initially. I swapped a wood cutting metal blade on and check the runout with a gauge and it shows 3.5mm side to side.. regardless of force it doesnt cut straight! As well as i tried cutting PVC with it and it was not straight either. It should munch thru pvc like its nothing
i have a miluakee and never had any problems unless i cut too fast with it which causes the wheel to track to the side. after about a year and 1/2 of use the thing usually breaks down so now i have 2 of them. 1 for a backup while the other is getting repaired.

Return it and get something decent like a Dewalt or Milwaukee chop saw. Buy a good tool once so you never have to buy it again. The Dewalt I have get's used just about everyday for cutting chromoly and has given great cuts every time. The only thing I hate about chop saws (in general) is the amount kerf it leave behind.

Everyone has to learn to buy name brand tools. When I did some metal work for the city last summer I went through 3 Ryobi angle grinders in one month and then they bought me a Makita
