omg, boost is sooooo addictive..... taking bets on how long my motor will last.....
so anyway, thanks to Chris F and suprdave I have a hondata base map (Chris') which I modified to run the 780cc precision injectors I have..... the car idles like **** and will cut off sometimes on coastdown, but damn it's hard to stay out of boost... well not that hard if you drive partial throttle, but the feel of boost is just... addictive. So I have a feeling I'll be needing new pistons and rods pretty soon.....
Anyway, I'm rambling but at this rate won't be surprised if I never even make it to the dyno to tune - seeing as how I'm running off the wastegate (internal) and it's hitting a steady 9psi...
Chris' map is supposed to be good for 10psi conservatively, and I'm not retarded enough to road race on it like he did. But I just can't help but want to feel the pull of the turbo and hear it spool, and the bov, etc... LOL
I feel like such a ricer.
A white 99 civic coupe all jdm'd out drove by me all agressive like, so I blew off on him and he slowed to a crawl. LOL. I got caught at the next light, and he sat 2 car lengths back rather than pull up next to me... he was holding up traffic. LOL. I was just trying to give him a
Ahh whatever...
Anyway, does anyone know why the greddy 18g turbo wastegate is allowing 9psi for me? I thought it was supposed to be ~5psi? I noticed that there is some adjustability on the wastegate actuator arm... can I adjust that back down to make lower boost?

lol...."how long will it last" is all too often the boosted motor question
.....unless you do it right the first time

Glad to see yer havin' fun with it. After ridin' in Dr. Poo's car a few weeks ago the boost bug is bigger than ever.
That kind of power on tap is just ridiculous.

it don't take long to do damage.. if bad enough.. you could see results within hundreds of miles.. downtime sucks.. so take it easy on quick thrills

to that.
My stock engine lasted one week.
I HIGHLY suggest getting that boost turned down a little bit, and if your getting any thing remotely looking like boost spike, get that fixes ASAP.

one part you shouldn't go with out if you stick with stock bottom end......INLINE PRO HEAD GASKET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yeah you can fiddle with that, at least that's what my friend did when he installed mine to run 6 instead of 5.

actually the Greddy turbo if bought with an intercooler is set to 7.8psi from the factory....get a Profec B spec 1 or Profec-s and use that. with my profec-b 1 it holds boost perfect but as soon as you turn the controller off it spikes all over the place
Ken, when you gonna let me ride it, its been so long that ive driven mine I forgot what it feels like.
Sounds, fun. I wanna go for a ride in a boosted R someday... I will make a comparison then. But i honestly think I will love NA way more.

Ricer.
Just kidding. Glad you're finally on the street. Just FYI, I'd seen >1 bar on the track (spikes right after shifts) with that damn profec b spec 2. I finally have the settings worked out better than that, but at least nothing blew up at high boost.
I seriously believe it would last a long time if it weren't for HPDE's (4 of them).
Do you have a boost controller? Does it stay at 9 PSI up to redline or spike up to 9 and then drift lower?
2 other things.. what's wrong with your idle, does it hunt when the engine is warming up (mine does too), or is something screwed up in the fuel? Also, that fuel cut under decel is occasionally obnoxious, I agree.
I think it probably gets worse as you start correcting for larger injectors, that's just a guess though.
Another weird thing, my Hondata fires up the engine as soon as I turn the key, but the stock ECU let it make a few revolutions first, probably to let the oil pump start priming, etc. Oh well.

Careful. Brandon's engine cracked the #4 cylinder and broke 3 pistons.

Bah. He had some bad luck (and boost spike on a more efficient turbo). I'm going to crank up the boost on stock cylinders

No offense Mr. Fries. Thanks again for the map. I seriously owe you and Suprdave
and dinner fo sho!
My partial throttle and idle suck ***. Warm up is good, but after the car is warm on coastdown the car will shut the **** off. Actually, the only time the car drives good is when it's in boost! LOL
I'm going to tune asap - but need to get my catback mated up so I can get a decent reading at the o2 bung with the wideband.....
I'm thinking of going with 2.5" downpipe while I'm at it.....
Damn you 780cc injectors!
Alfonso, wtf is up with your car? How is it down again?
