Default GSR turbo questions

I have a 94 GSR with a turbonetics T3/T4 .60 trim turbo kit. I'm installing a Hondata stand alone. I have 750cc RC injectors on the way. I want to know, what is the highest amount of boost I can push safely on a stock block with this setup? I also want to purchase an HKS 2.6mm metal head gasket, but dont know much about it. What are the pros and cons when installing this gasket. Any advice would be great. Im new to this site and am still figuring out how to use it. Thanks-Dave

You might have better luck in the forced induction forum.

Don't say stuff like this when it's not true. Jeff from boosted hybrid was pushing 15psi on his B18c engine making 300whp on a 100 stock engine. However, it was tuned, and that makes the difference.

Its possible, but each engine is diffrent. Boosting 15 on stock if its tuned and capable of holding boost (very good compression test, etc) is not uncommon...what is uncommon is having the motor last.

To be safe(and have your engine last) is to build up the bottom end then go from there...dont count your eggs before they hatch

my buddys running 13psi on stock block and hes had it for a while now. No problems at all.
btw: it was tuned at inline-pro with hondata.

Maybe you didn't comprehend what I typed. My point is that Ehop said it's not possible to boost that high, when in fact it is. I was not being specific to the thread starter's engine, as we have no idea what shape it's in. I simply stated the fact that you can boost more than 7-8 psi on a stock engine. Boost isn't what kills an engine. Heat, detonation, and improper tuning do. If you have a boosted engine making 280 whp, stock, and tuned, it will last a long time if you don't floor it 100% of the time you're driving it.

UMM..I was supporting what you said bro

Tuning is key..I have seen a few people go boost crazy and blow a piston, snap a rod even with upgraded internals.

I dont know what condition 1SiKTeG 's motor is in so at minimal without knowing
compression #'s and the good stuff 7-8 is ideal untill he can confirm his findings.

Ask your tuner how much boost you could safely do. Hopefully he'll have some knowledge in this area. I've never heard of the HKS gasket, but the Hondata Head Gasket is good for boost.

What do i have to do to get my compression tested? I have an HKS metal gasket which should hve lowered my compression quite a bit. Can i just go to any shop and get it tested or how does that work?
