So Here is the question. I am really new into car audio, i was more into Home Audio but now I just guy a Sub, It's a JBL, 2 coil at 2 or 4 homs, iM not shure, but it's rated a 200watts rms!! serial number is JBL gt800d, so now I need an Amp and don't know wich one to buy cause the soub is double coil!!, then I either don't know how to wire it, can some one explaint this to me, make a plan, something to get me weired!!
thanks in advance!!

read the directions, it'll tell you. if its rated 200w max then thats all you need. dual voice coils wont make a difference in how much power it can handle. if its a dual 4 you can wire it to either a 2ohm or 8 ohm load and dual 2 is 1 or 4ohms, but like i sed you have to read the directions because you probably dont knwo what im talking about.
I don't know nuthin bout birthin no babies!
But I do know a lot about car stereo. What you need to find out is the ohm rating of the voice coils. I'm not familiar with that model # but 4 ohms is fairly typical. If that is the case, wire them in parallel, positive lead from the amp to both positive leads on the sub, negative to negative, etc. That will give you a two ohm load which will increase the power draw from your amp and thus, how loud your sub can get.
If the voice coils are 2 ohm on the other hand, wiring them in parallel will get you a 1 ohm load which most amps cant handle. You will have to wire them in series for a 4 ohm load which means les output but also less strain on the amp.
Of course if it's a two chanel amp you could just bridge the left and right channels to give the amp an effective 2 ohm load.
Confused yet?
Actually, the best thing to do is to go to a decent book store and buy something on the subject of car audio. It will go into much more detail than i'm willing to spend time on and more importantly, it will probably have diagrams.
Good luck! it's really not that confusing but you do need to do a little homework.
