Default TWIN Cam ZC swap into 91 hatch si problems

I swaped in a twin cam zc engine into my friends 91 civic si. there was no problems about fitment of anything. The problem im having is that their is no spark in the distributer to the engine, engine turns over but no spark. Ive tried coil, ignition modual thats nexts to the shaft, basically everything and no spark to the engine. Their is power going to the dis. but nothing coming out. the wiring from the dizzy was moved around to mate with the stock connections and i made sure it was all right but from then on im stuck. timing is right everything else is right just wont start, some one let me know whats up

There are 2 white wires in the harness for the dizzy. Switch them around. I get that wrong every time I wire up a ZC.

i switched the two wires and still nothing, im thinking i should just order another dizzy. which two wires are your talking about? i switched the two that were in a straight line of three and then switched the two white that was underneath the three with one from the line of three and the one underneath that line.

Did you run the 2 wires to the cam angle sensor on the motor?

i think i did switch those wire, cause there were four white wires and i switched them all, none had any power, i test lighted everything and no power except the black wire coming from the fire wall.

Put a test light across the + and - leads of the coil and see if it is getting signal to fire. If not your problem is in the sensor or wiring. If it does flash your coil, or plug wires are bad. I'm sure you have pulled a plug wire out and put a spare spark plug in it to see if it is getting spark?

well thanks for your help alot. I found out the problem to be the CAS(cam angle sensor) i never knew what it looked like because my engine never had it. but once i went back to the place when i bought it, i hooked it up and fired up nice. firing order was bad too. im still having problems with it tho. It idles smooth but wont rev past 2k, i know the problem tho i dont have the sensor on the side of the throttle body connected and the sensor on the back of the intake manifold conected. ill keep you posted on how everything goes tomorrow. Thanks again you guys are a big help.

ok everything hooked up ran good then jumped timing. I was so f-ing pissed off. why did it jump timing? i made sure the tensor was tight. 40 ft right? well it ran good pulled hard and then my buddie says the belt jumped. started making a knocking noise and opend the valve cover and holes on the cam shaft didnt line up. why did it jump?

When you put the timing belt on you need to loosen the tensioner bolt and then pull it tight on the belt. I think you should onlty have 1/2" of "flex" in the belt. Then you tighten the bolt back up while keeping the belt tight. Sometimes I stick a pry bar in there to keep the belt tight. Rest it and see if the motor runs OK. You may get lucky and none of the valve are bent

ok re timed it and noise went away at idle. now im sure the noise sounds like a spun baring. Im having no luck with this engine. ever since my friend bought it from a company i dont want to say their name its been all down hill from there. It truly sounds like bad knock because when the engine decelerates it sounds like something is loose inside slaping around. So im thinking we might just have to get that engine out of there again. Im planning on driving it to a shop called Green Light auto here in San DIego to make sure im correct.

Sounds bad Can you contact the place you got the motor from and see if they can do anything about it. They may have sent you a bad motor.

tranny needed lots of fluid, so we added some and then the noise i told u about went away. I go back the next day and it starts back up again. Tranny doesnt want to go into gear and grinds 3rd only, other gears wont even try to go into gear. it was going into gear fine before this noise happened. what could this be?

ok i just found out what the problem was, we pulled the engine again and I saw taht the clutch came out of alignment. I wondered why the hell that happened. so I pulled it off and saw that the flywheel bolts were coming off(WTF) thats what was making all the noise and sounded like a spun rod. These 4 loose flywheel bolts hit the pressure plate and knocked it out of alignment. How does this happen? i never touched these bolts. so he bought a new clutch and its going back in tomorrow
