SEMI OT: GOT ROBBED LAST NIGHT, INCLUDES SPARE ITR KEYS W ALARM
Last night my roommate and I found out that our apartment got broken into. Got a pair of brand new Air Jordans w/patten leather MIB stolen (200), Ralph Lauren Shoes MIB stolen (250), and a pair of Nike running shoes (100) stolen. My spare ITR key with the remote control alarm was also in one of the Air Jordan shoes. So now I have to get the locks changed? Including alarm? Does anyone know how much it would cost to get the locks changed? Don't wanna get the ITR stolen, I've worked to hard for it. It's paid off and got some jdm recaros. My roommate also got his brand new Sony camcorder stolen, worth between 2500-3000. Nothing else was really stolen except for loose change from what we can tell right now. They left both of our check books, credit cards, comp, tv, dvd player, etc. I don't get it. Not even jewlery. But the theif did manage to take a dump in my roomate's bathroom toilet before he left. That doesn't make a whole lot of sense. The people who live above us said they saw him earlier getting out of the window, jumping over the fence with the bag of stuff, and getting into his car. He saw all of this and didnt manage to call the cops. He described him as a 6'5 black, heavyset male. What stupid dumb f*cks!!!!!!!!!! Later on today we're gonna try to get out of our remaining lease. Just don't feel right at all here nemore.

it would be difficult to change the locks because you would also need to change the hole? for the ignition also...
unless if you we're planning on changing just the locks, but that would defeat the purpose since he does have your spare alarm remote. imo change the alarm while your at it since your going to change the locks/ignition key hole anyways.
the best thing to do is to rent a apartment with a built in garage, like a house. my friend lives in one of these apartments and he hasnt had any problems with thiefs yet. the rent is a bit on the high side, (800-850 a month, two bedroom) but the security is well worth it.

take a look a the local pawn shops, kinda sounds like a crack head move to me..
If you have a 2000-2001 ITR, changing the ignition key is about $600+ dollars. The immobilizer works in conjunction with the computer. New key = new computer. This is what I was told by the dealer when my car was stolen. I hope this is wrong and you can get off cheaper. I didn't worry so much about the cost because insurance was paying for everything.
instead of spending all your money on a new lock/ignition key/alarm, just move to a new apartment w/garage and you wont have to worry about anyone stealing it. what are the chances he would come back and try to "locate" you to steal your car. seems like he was just after stuff he could turn around for some quick cash, but thats just my speculation...
i was quoted around $150usd by my dealer to re-key my 98, but then again i don't have the immobilizer.
is it that easy to find covered parking? i park on the street because in my parts renting a place with covered parking is almost $300 more

Took a crapper eh? Maybe he left a butt print. If he didn't flush, I'm sure you can DNA trace it or something like that.
Sorry to hear about your loss, it could have been way worse.

a decent studio in northern va is about that much. and a 1 bedroom is like
1200-1500
I got an idea for you. Get a bunch of your friends, and chill in a minivan. Then park your ITR in front of your apt. where it's clearly visible. Stake out, and when you see someone approach the ITR, jump out, and beat the out of him, and get your keys back. Simple as that. Make sure you all have weapons, clubs, bats, knives, etc. Trust me, if he realizes he has your keys, he'll come back for the car. Then you'll get your sweet revenge, and your keys back as well.

"How come you damn brothers can't earn money the right way, and blame others for your damn problems! Lousy, cheap mother f*ckers who can't tip. "
I understand you got robbed and your upset. I dont know about anyone else but that statement seems a little bit racist to me. Black people arent the only race that steal. A theif is a thief.

i feel your pain man, my house was broken into about a month ago. At the time I was out with the R but my bro's S2k was home. Luckily all they took was a nokia 8290 with a broken circuitboard. My spare keys were also in the house. I'm sure they saw it but they didnt bite. Craziest part of this all was they broke through my FRONT IRON gate and wooden door.
Good luck on the insurance claims and all that man. Get a piece and go to the range. Trust me you'll feel alot safer.

Sorry to see your stuff was stolen ... but ... I just hope I never run into you in a dark alley somewhere. you might decide to take me out because I am black so I must be dishonest, cheap, blame everybody for my problems, don't tip and might even be related to the bad guy who broke into your apartment.

not to add to the racism BUT... the bastards who broke into my house were described as two black males in their teens. A couple of years back.. two other black males attempted to break in as well. Of course not all blacks are criminals but the majority of crime is done by them in my experience. I chalk it up as the result of living in a neighborhood close to a predominantly black neighborhood. I'm sure if I lived in a middle to lower class white neighborhood, the same would have went down except the perpretators would have been white.
ATT: Type R 98-0352 I'm sorry about your situation man. Don't worry about your alarm remote. If you cannot afford to change all the locks in your car, including the ignition because it costs an arm and a leg, at least you can have the dealer who installed the alarm to erase the lost remote and reprogram the one you have. Also you can order another similar transmiter and program it so you can use it as a spare. We do that in my shop once in a while. You don't have to change your alarm system just for that matter.
Good luck!

Trust me, I aint a racist person and another note : I'm not white. But you have to admit there are different classes of people for every race, and I think we all know that. I have treated every color the same in my profession, hoping not everyone is the same, and they aren't. But those who are your stereotypes....GEEZ.....
At the very least you'll have to leave the car elsewhere for a while. If he's a big time thief he'll come back for the car, it couldn't be easier for him to steal. Don't park it at home and go to bed for the night, sorry, but it'll go missing and you'll know why. I would sleep in it for a week or two, no kidding, it's worth it. Bring blankets and a pillow, and a .45 cal pistol.
Sorry to hear about what happened.
