Will an OEM speedo drive gear fit on an aftermarket diff?
I am having a problem in that I don't know what kind of diff I have in my gearbox. Its some type of LSD, I just don't know who makes it. I have my gear box torn apart trying to figure it out, but I don't have access to a gear press right now. Anyhow, I couldn't get my speedo to work, and when I took my diff out I found out why:

I have no speedo drive gear!
I dont know if an OEM speedo gear will fit, but id imagine it'd probably be different. I purchased an ATS driven gear for $70 directly from ATS and it is smaller (both in height and diameter) than the stock one, I am assuming this is to create a lower ratio to keep the speedo accurate.
However, the gears are helical cut, and are supposed to be in constant mesh. Since it is smaller, I doubt they would touch. If a stock gear would fit, I could put it in with the stock driven gear, but I'd bet my speedo would be way off.
Incidentally, I think that I could enable vtec @ < 20mph in uberdata as a fix for the no speed no vtec. I just want a speedo.

My Quaife diff used the stock gear.As far as I know the gear is only available as part of the oem diff. assembly, not separately.Try http://www.gear-speed.com . They may be able to help you.
