Default B20VTEC Dyno Part 2: Tuning

Took a trip to the dyno tonight, and it was intresting to say the least.
I did 31 runs and the car was strapped down for 3+ hours!

The first run was very dissapointing. I put down 194 / 145
Last time my best run was 206 / 151...and I changed nothing!
I did another two baseline runs and made 198 / 146 then 201 / 147. Power was still down ..but a little better. The only explanation for this that I can think of is the fact that the engine got hotter with every run.

My final numbers ended up being 207.9 HP and 153.5 TQ

I made some changes to the cam gears and ended up with +4 intake and -2 exhaust (degrees). I also advanced the timing from 15 degrees to 16 degrees and lowered the VTEC point to 4300, which alone made awsome midrange and gained top end as well.

Baseline vs Final HP

Baseline vs Final TQ

EDIT: I just realized that on my final run the car was running very lean...around 14:1 most of the graph! Damn I cant believe I didnt look at that on the dyno!!! So there might be more power there to be gained

the more i look at this, the more i want to lean to b20vtec boost vs h22 boost

Im using a JDM ITR header with the welds ported
Fuel setup is stock 240cc injectors, FPR, Walbro fuel pump and VAFC
Fuel pressure is at 54 PSI

Like I said, I realized after I left and pulled up the dyno runs on my home computer that I was running really rich! The cam timing changed the A/F Ratio and its as lean as 14.6:1 in some areas and around 14:1 most of the plot
Damn...wish I would have looked at that..usually my engine responds great to running rich...so I could have gained 5 more HP/TQ all across for all I know.

Im worried about the loss of power myself..I dont know what the hell happened...and is it going to happen again?

HX_Guy, is your head absolutely stock?

What about the intake manifold and throttle body?

No porting or valve job? What about the combustion chambers, are they matched to the bore?

Head is completely stock, no port job or valve job..it is not matched to the cylinder bore either. I did have some initial detonation problems, but now with the cams adjusted (and therefore lowering dynamic compression)...the detonation is gone..I was able to run up to 18 degrees of timing with no problem.

I have a ITR manifold and JG 64MM TB

Time to go to track now. let er rip. you have excellent midrange now, your driveability must be fun. Race something fast on the street and let us know how you make out. Try a Camaro SS or Corvette.
