scratched cylinder
A friend of mine was putting new head studs in and after removing the head noticed that that the #1 cylinder had several vertical scratches. They are not deep, but enough to feel with your finger nail (they dont catch your fingernail though).
Should we pull that piston out and hone the cylinder, then put new rings on it?
Thanks,

The scratches were caused by bits of ceramic from the spark plug ( that broke) that fell into the cylinder. I Imagine that it broke up and is stuck in between the ring lands.
My buddies motor was the same way for some reason. Scratches were in the same spots in all cylinders... It was his daily driver and he needed it so we went ahead and put his Z6 head/supercharger on anyway. It seems to be running OK to date.
Not sure what caused it.
If it were my motor I would hone/install new rings.
