How about those made in US or Taiwan copy of the ARC intake pipe? They looked exactly the same as the ARC, so I guess they should all perform the same. Or is it the name of ARC on the pipe will give you extra horsepower?
a copy of the sausage would probably come pretty close to achieving the same results. the J's Racing and Top Fuel sausages are made in taiwan anyways
as for the ARC box, well, there's two ARC intake products to consider, the intake box and the induction chamber. The ARC intakes are supposed to be volumetrically calculated for the best box volume for the specific car. Zspeed had a copy of the ARC intake box awhile back but it wasn't very successful. As for the intake chambers, who knows how close the copies come to matching the effect of the ARC chamber... for sure the ARC and copy chambers have different volumes... and supposedly on the ARC, there aren't as many hard angles on the chamber to disrupt airflow... but again, who knows...
it's kind of like the issue of AEM cold air (or was it Iceman?) intake having an intake pipe that had a decreasing pipe diameter and comparing that with a generic cold air intake
but remember, with the ARC intakes, u won't be seeing major horsepower gains... they are designed for midrange and throttle response... somewhat more subjective qualities that are hard to evaluate

from a very knowledgeable person to J's products...
"First, J’s racing Tsuchinoko chamber is made in Japan. But I see why this Taiwan story came to play.
3 to 4 years ago, one tiny Japanese company in Hiroshima came up with the first design of what currently known as “Tsuchinoko chamber”. That company took the idea to Taiwan to produce a prototype. Once the prototype was built, the Taiwan company kind of started selling the products as their own products. They tried to sell not only in the Taiwan, but in the other Asian countries including Japan. J’s racing was one of the companies approached by the Taiwan company. However, J’s racing decided to purchase from that small company in Hiroshima in Japan rather than from Taiwan company. At that early stage, it is possible the very first model bought from the company in Hirohima was made in Taiwan. During the economic recession for the last 5 years in Japan, the small company in Japan went under and stopped providing the product to J’s racing. Now J’s racing’s Tsuchinoko Chamber is made in Japan with other Japanese company. However, there are other companies which imports the very similar products from Taiwan."

H'mmm,,,
Woulden't it be nice if I could borrow this when I dyno my R in the spring? Wonder if it would produce any noticeable gains over my "icebox?" Curious, and Geez it's ugly...
