i dont see how you need to drain your oil if you're only wanting to flush the "coolant."

that bolt on the block is for yes, full flush, but i heard it was hella tight and you need a breaker bar, plus you need to put sealant on the bolt afterwards.

If i were you, i would run the engine till the upper hose was hot which means the thermostat has opened, and then drain all the coolant.

I'd open the block drain, it's not that hard. It's got an aluminum crush washer, like your oil drain bolt (but not the same size). First time it comes loose with a big snap, so don't smash your knuckes.

Even when you drain thru that plug, there's still a bunch of coolant that doesn't drain. I usually have to drain/fill about 4 times before it comes out clear.

If both oil and coolant come out, that means you have nice choclate milk looking mixture thoughout the hole coolant/oil system.

They are completely seperate systems and draining one wont affect the other.

When you pop your hood and your standing there looking at the radiator....bend way way over and look down at the bottom of the radiator....see that bottom hose that snakes off to the engine block? Take off the radiator cap to allow air to enter the system...get down there with a set of channel locks and pinch that clasp and wiggle it closer to the engine. Now twist and push the bottom hose off of the radiator (watch your toes). It's going to drain for a minute or so. Turn on the car and let it run for a couple minutes. Not too long though, because you don't want to over heat your engine. After running it for a couple minutes shut the car off and let it cool down.

Re connect the bottom hose, moving the clamp back to where it used to be. Make sure the car is completely cold and fill the radiator back up with water. While your filling it up, reach over to the upper radiator hose and give it a couple slaps to loosen any air bubbles. Do the same for the bottom hose. Top off the radiator.

Now you need to purge the system of any air, if you fail to do so you'll get wierd temp readings and it could potentially result in over heating your car. Once you've topped off the radiator, turn the car on. You have to work kind of fast here. While the car is running slap the top and bottom hoses of the radiator periodically to get any air out that has been circulating through the system while running. Once you feel that you have the system purged, put the radiator cap back on, because the water will start to expand as it heats up.

Take the car around the block, make note of any difference in cooling readings. I like to drive my car around a little bit, take it home, let it cool off again, and re-purge the system just to make sure I got all the air bubbles out.

Hope this helps. It's easier than it sounds

you might also look into getting one of those prestone in-line radiator flush things that you hook a hose directly to. its the only way to get a full flush on my infiniti Q45. drain coolant, hook it up. turn it on, have dinner and add coolant. works like a champ. oh and you might have to pull the top radiator hose and block it off to force coolant through the block and out the lower hose.

so ur saying after drain old fluid and fill with water and run for 15min so old fluid in block can mix with water and come out..and drain water and fill with new fluid. is that what u talking about?? ..then how u drain water from block? just disconnect bottom hose and run engine for few sec or min ..am i right?
