My brake lights wont go off! also airbag problem... please help me!
i have a 98 gs. My main problem is with my brake lights. When I turn on my running lights or my headlights my brake lights remain on like I am pressing on the brakes even when my foot is not on the break pedal. The only time my break lights will go off is when i turn off my headlights. When I brake during the day time without my headlights on my running lights come on when the brake pedal is pushed.
Another problem I have is that my SRS light is on and my cruise control will not work. I'm guessing that these problems are related.
Finally I also have a 2-way remote start/alarm on my car and the vehicle will not alarm and i'm guessing its due to either one of the two problems mentioned above.
I would greatly appreciate any input on these problems and their solutions THANKS!!

Taillight/brakelight bulbs are supposed to have 2 filaments. It'll do just that if you force single-filament bulbs into those sockets. Or maybe if they're in backwards? Also it's possible that the little bumps on the base of the bulb are mashed together, shorting between the brakelight & parkinglight circuit.
With your brake lights, I ran into a similar problem. When I first put some LED bulbs in for my tail lights, after installing them, my brake lights were all always on with my running lights/parking lights. Just like the problem you're having. I went through and checked, made sure I had them installed correctly (I know, how could you mess up installing a tail light bulb?). Anyway they were all in correctly (and they technically only go in one way, but it is possible to force them in the wrong way).
Anyway so I took them all back out and tested them for opens/shorts (using a simple DMM) and it turns out one was shorted, therefore lighting up the brake lights even when the pedal wasn't depressed. Took the defective LED back, got a new one, put in, works like a charm now!
So I would say it's a wiring and/or bulb issue. A simple quick check that I guess you could do is check bulb condition/installation and bulb socket condition. If that doesn't help, I would say time to look at the wiring.
As for the SRS/cruise control/alarm, who installed it? Sounds like they may have messed something up. Unless the problem happened at unrelated times, then forget that. Just my two cents, don't really have much to say on that topic.

ok i will check the bulbs. One of my friends said he thought it might be my brake switch any thoughts on that?
And the alarm/srs/ cruisecontrol problem happened at unrelated times since the alarm has been on the car for a while and the srs problem just started

But since they're interacting with the headlights, it really looks like crossed connections. Also maybe open grounds somewhere at the taillight clusters.
k I resolved the brake light and alarm issue. I'm assuming that my alarm wasn't letting me set it because it was sensing that my brakes were being pressed. And I was able to get my brake lights to go off simply by changing the bulbs because one of the bulbs had blown one of its filaments so a very simple fix by just changing the bulb. Now all I have to get figured out is the SRS/cruise control problems
