what tranny???
No0b question
I think I might have a lsd transmission on my civic but how can I tell for sure? It's a B16a (1st gen JDM) supposed to come with hydro, cable, or lsd transmission??? Alittle confused.
I was digging my car out from the snow few weeks back to start her up (*sigh*) and when I finally got her started I had to manuever (reverse) my way out from where it was. So that was fun and ****, but I remember seeing snow shooting out from both frt wheels. That means I have lsd right?
I bought the car w/ JDM B16a swap, and the tranny WAS a dx auto b4 the swap.
(It's a sedan by the way) The tranny is now manual... of course, so I believe they converted all that when the swap took place.
I just want to know how I could check, to see what I got?

1st gen is off the DA tegs... cable... optional LSD.
LSD is when the tranny make two dark marks on the ground when you hear vtec and letting the clutch go on 1st. or see through the hole that both axle sit into the tranny.

Now this is where it gets confusing...everyone else has different opinions...hmmm?
That's what I thought though...was that I had hydrolic *shrugs*
Still not sure

that is not always the case.
This topic has been covered many times, so you may want to do a search.
I know their is a method for jacking your car up and spinning the wheels.
IIRC, the wheel that you are not spinning will spin the opposite way if you have an LSD. Feel free to correct me if I have that backwards.

I THINK THAT IS RIGHT
That and if you pull the axles you should be able to see through the diff, then you have an LSD...

heres a couple of ways to find out:
1) look for a puddle of water, pull up your e-brake, peel out in it while u have someone see if both your tires spin...
2) pull out both your axles and see if u could look straight thru it if not u dont have lsd

Alright coo, now I just got to wait untill shes back on the road and take it to the shop to get on the lift...too low to slip a jack under there.
I'm getting new axles and new clutch kit/flywheel put on + some other goodies, so I'll make sure to look then.

Ricey's correct, of course...
No bar = LSD
bar = no LSD
If you have a hydraulic line (hence the hydro) running to a slave cylinder on the front of the tranny, then you have a hydro tranny. Otherwise it's a cable.

...But how can I tell if it's cable or hydro?
