I am thinking about picking up a nice EK, but I would like to take my current suspension set-up (coilovers) and put it on the later model. I <U>THINK</U> the only difference between the rear suspension on the two cars are the thickness of the LCAs (i.e., width of the lower shock mounting fork)

Can this be done? Anyone with first hand knowledge?

 

pretty sure but look up user SOHC4life 96 and look in his interchangeable parts thread for 100%

 

LCA's are not interchangable, but you still can use your old suspension on your 96-00. I'm actually using EG Koni Yellow Shocks on the beater, you just have to ad some washers inbetween the shock and the LCA's.

just wanted to explain why they won't work, i believe the eg lca is longer than the ek. someone correct me if i'm wrong

 

you are wrong actually, ek is longer than eg, by nearly 3 inches

also ek rear LCAs, where the strut mounts to it, are skinnier than eg rear LCAs
