Default 91 usdm crx SI cluster in 90 civic DX ?????

Im sure this has been covered a million times, but i searched the hell out of it so here goes. Does a 91 crx SI cluster just "WORK" IN A 90 DX. I thought it did. But when i plugged it into my dx, the tach wouldnt work, and i got some funny warning lights. I am very proficient with wiring so Im sure i can figure it out if need be. I just want to know if it is supposed to work. It just seems that it would. Thanks all

It should be plug and play. I used a 90 si cluster in my 91 dx sedan and all I did was remove the old cluster and installed the new one. Like hatchbox said you may have an 88-89 cluster.

The clusters from 90-91, have a slightly domed top...

Especially when compared to the 88-89 clusters that have an absolutely straight top,

And also the wiring is very different, as you might already know...

also

Look for the word DENSO or a littel NS symbol.
Denso = 88-89
NS = 90-91

I got these off of e-bay....lol...

88-89, see the absolutely flat top and the turn signal lights are by themselves on the left and right of the center section.

90-91 have a rounded top edge, and also you can see the high beam indicator is next to the left turn signal and the right turn signal has an indicator next to it but I can't make it out.
