Default F23 vtec into obd1 accord???

Ok what all would need to be done to get the f23 into an pbd1 accord? My brother just blew his f22 and all I can find is the f23.

I know the f23 is obd2 so I just need to know what all would be changed.

Thanks for the replys in advance

O and go easy I am a prelude guy and I did search

someone from honda society has done it and was able to just drop the shortblock in take all the manifolds and sensors from the f22 and put them on the f23, that way no obd2 ecu crap has to be done. if the car didnt come orginally with vtec then that will have to be wired in.

OK what ecu do I use then.

I just finished the swap of a f23a1 from a 99 accord to a 95 accord. Buy a intake manifold gasket for yr car, and install your original intake manifold on the f23a1. The manifold gasket is different part # from honda, but when you compare it, its the same ****, just different design and does the same thing. You can actually use any manifold gasket that's available to you, f23 or f22, dont really matter.
After that, everything is the exact same.. you might hav 1 or 2 extra sensors on yr f23 that won't be plugged into anything, but that won't be a problem.
For some reason, the junkyards around here wants $350 for a f23 regardless of mileage and $650 for a f22 regardless of mileage also. I picked up a 99 f23a1 with 33k for $350... just to let you know how much you should spend.
o ya.. n reuse yr old ecu.. no extra wiring or n e thing.

ok cool thanks alot

the only other problem I have os that my bros f22 is the non vtec version, so I should get ahold of an obd1 f22 vtec ecu??

pbd1 is actually ment to be obd1 which is On Board Diagnostics version 1.....Basically your check engine light. It is the computer your car has communicating with your sensors to keep the car running at optimum performance and emmisions.

obd2 is On Board Diagnostics version 2 whicjh is just the newest version that is on all 96 and up Hondas and I am not sure about any other Makes but I think all of them

Go to howstuffworks.com and search for obd and it will explain it alot better than I ever could.

the f23 uses a 3 wire IAC valve, the f22 uses a 2 wire IAC valve. ECUs are obviously set up to use the corresponding sensor.

this is NOT a difference between OBD1 and OBD2. honda has changes the design of the IAC valveindependent of OBD regulations.

if you try to use the wrong valve the car will idle like ****.

what mingbling did will work, old manifold and old ecu. you can also use the f23 mani and the f23 ecu. a third option is to match the IAC valve to the ECU you are using and build an adaptor plate.

actually.. it just hit me. If your car was originally not vtec, the manifolds are most likely different than the f22 vtec motors. In that case, it might not work for you. Try to find a manifold from a f22 vtec... they might be kinda hard to find though. good luck

hmm, are the f22/23 manifolds 2 peice manifolds like the h22's???

If so maybe I can use the f23 bottom peice and the f22 top peice. I dont think they are 21 peice though

ive actually heard that f22b1/f22b2 and f23 manifolds all bolt up fine, they sell hondata type intake manifold gaskets and they sell the same ones for f22bx and f23's. the header port patterns are the same.

IAC is not a problem if your using the f22 intake manifold.
