Default Help out a drag racing noob

I've got a 96 ls with generic 2" intake and greddy evo exhaust. But I've never run it at the track. I was wondering what should my car run and about what rpm should i be shifting at. I was thinking I should at about 6300-6500 cause my *** dyno say power falls off between there and redline. Any help is appreciated I just don't wanna embarass myself at the track . Thanx

Your probably gonna be in the high 15 range!!!! Are you gonna run drag radials...slicks.....street tires???? Need more info...but you shoud shift @ redline or just before it...to get the most out of you motor!

If you shift too soon, you will be well below peak. Shifting later can land you in a fatter part of the torque curve.

shift at redline then go from there, dude, the first time i went to the track was last saturday at sac raceway. but it was super fun. dont worry youll do fine. oh ya try to remember that launching on the street is totally different than on the track. on the street i launch at 3500 but on the track i launched at 2700-3000. and ride the clutch, if you drop it youll spin. wen i went to the track the first time i got high 15's on accord 4dr with IHE on kuhmo power stars. and another trick....launch wen u see the final yellow light, because wen u react wen u see green, by the time you actually react, youll get shitty reaction times. i got .087 launches doing this!
