b16 on LS?
shorter gears will lower 1/4 times. the car will be considerably quicker.
the only problem with it is if you do alot of highway driving. the tranny will force the motor to be at higher rpm's during highway cruising speeds, which is not cool for an LS since its an unbalanced motor.
plenty of people have done the swap though. and i havn't heard of an LS coming apart because of it. but you never know.

what do you mean its an unbalanced motor and around what RPM will it be at when cruising at around 65mph ?

my S1 pulls 4000 at 65. but thats a crazier tranny than the y80's and other hydro clutch stuff. so i'd say 3500-upper 3000's. that is higher than the LS's.
shouldn't be a problem, just thought i'd throw in the info that cruising speed would be at higher r's. the LS is a balanced motor, just not as good of a balance as the vtec motors.

im running a 92-93 gsr tranny (ys1) on my b18a1 and it makes all the difference in the world. honestly, the higher rpm's on the highway are definately worth it. i recently bought a DA witht he stock ls tranny and it was soooo much slower.
i love my tranny.
i love my tranny.
ok wait a minute... ever since i bought my DA last year, its always had a YS1 tranny. with a b18a1 block. so do you mean to tell me that my tranny is a gsr tranny? or is the ys1 on my car an LS tranny?
there are 2 different ys1 trannies. (had you looked at the tranny guide link you would've figured it out
)
one is the ls, which you almost certainly have. the other is the jdm rsi/xsi/ usdm 92-93 gsr. if you can cruise comfortably on the highway at 80, then you do not have the jdm ys1.
