Default New Crx Si looking to create an SiR

I just bought a 1988 crx si and was wondering how much modding it would take to get me to the oneness and holiness of an SiR.The only difference i want to have majorly is engine wise. The US spec d16 engine when built is almost as potent as a b16 and several hundred dollars cheaper. If anyone has a conversion list let me know, all i really have at this point in the game is a 88' rex si with a dx engine in it(the d16 was blown when i got it, this engine was ripped from a $100 donor car) with a skipped gear on the rack and pinion(soon to be fixed) stock rims, short throw shifter, cat back exhaust system and a wrecked body kit.Im looking for jdm stuff in an attempt to build the unicorn.I know the lights arent that much different so im not obsessed with every part being straight out of japan, but i want the siR look for cheap.Any help?

I would probably fix all of the broken stuff on your CRX first. That would suck if you spent all of that money on a new front end and then your car just fell apart in like 10 different places all at once.

Honestly, about no part is the same from a crx SI to an SIR. There's different seats, hood, body, engine mounts, headlights, just about everything. Thats why they cost ALOT more MSRP wise than the civic SI.

Well ticketst to japan arent cheap and either are siRs in japan, so then id just have no car no money and be stranded in japan.

Honestly I havent seen a lot of differences in body styling, besides the side markers, headlights, and a few subtle changes on the tails. So I have to ebay it a little while after i get this si fixed, then ill see what we can do as too pictures

Headlights, radiator support, front bumper, side markers, hood, fenders, rear bumper, tailights, engine, engine mounts, seats, interior pieces, etc. There are a lot of differences between the SiR and Si not to mention the SiR is right hand drive. Basically the whole front clip is different.

well the engine situation is being handled, im gonna run a d16 with a t3/t4 turbo setup and i can afford a better intercooler and motor build ups(Pistons, etc) To handle more boost for cheaper than a b16 and a 5 speed tranny,so That isuue is pretty much resolved. As per the right hand drive conversion, is it legal to drive a roght hand drive car in america or are the laws against that strictly regional? And wouldnt drive thru's suck rhd?Thats a lot of work, and for the record im 17, have limited budget (working at sonic) Limited help of knowledgeable people (all of the kids here have se-rs or civics/eclipses riced up all glam and they run like moose turds) And dealership their cars when they see the check engine light, most have never seen a torque wrench.Im against a wall here and im all alone doing this, and the parts dont just roll in if ya get my drift. So anyone selling jdm or j-spec parts just attempt to contact me and ill try to make an offer. All of the help and non-assholeness i can get are appreciated.

this is not the classifieds. search on here, there are tons of people selling JDM parts for these cars, they are not going to come find you.

i can understand if theres no one around to help you with your car, that can be frustrating, but dont come on a tech forum and ask how to convert a car to an SiR because in truth, its really not possible, especially for someone on a "limited budget"

you could settle for what everyone else does, and have a nice usdm car and not worry about being an SiR at all.

there are lots of guys in canada selling glasstop si's for 5-6k so if you want one so bad do that, otherwise stop worrying about it.

not trying to have "assholeness" but thats the real truth about it. if you stay on these forums long enough youll see theres a post like this once every 2 weeks, and people just get sick of seeing it after a while.

so dont hate us, youll get the idea after a while.

well as to the engine question, yes, a built d16 will romp *** to a b16 for much less money.a b16 is usually like $8-1200 and a d16 is looking more like $300-600.T3/t4 setups are 1150 and 750 respectively, so i will end up saving money. And its not set in stone that thats the route im going, if i see a b16 for cheap enuff, im goin b16.....you know what in fact i am going to b16.HAPPY??? im gonna go j-spec all the way and im not gonna waste any money.Just like i said, i want a siR.As to the prior comments i am sorry for the newb post....but well... i am a newb.Hey, im learnin!

i dont doubt it, a boosted d16 is mean up top ill bet...

just keep reading and reading every question has been answered on here. the only thing new on these forums are new product information, or a project log thread.

ANYTHING ELSE is in the archives. thats the thing that sets off people, nothing against you.

good luck with the car.

alright so now im looking for pretty much a full front jdm clip, right?Since its pre 1990 ill need the rear disc conversion, the glasstop conversion, the electric folding mirrors, and all of the lights and markers that are left off of the clip i buy huh?Does anyone have an actual price range for all of this stuff? I have looked on ebay, but ebay never has regulated or set price, because bids can be up one day and down another.Again, apologies on the previous posts.

that was one of the assholish comments i was talking about! If you see trial user on the side then why the hell do you expect me to know all of this ****?If i joined like 10 days ago, i barely know my way around the site, much less what not to ask, and i was asking for advice, not a royal flaming.several of you people offered real tangible advice, but others were just snot nosed ****** about it.I AM NEW!!! help me out for christ sake! I apologized for the newb post, and thought i picked up from there, but still you flame me! CALM DOWN KIDS!!!Dang. And most likely i will end up with one of those emblems, so thank you for the link, ***!
